CEMETERY TRUSTEES' REPORT, 1911.

Mr. Elnathan Delano, one of our esteemed members, died Nov. 9 last, the first in active membership to pass on since the form- ation of the committee in 1894. In his removal the Trustees feel a deep sense of loss and that the town has lost a good citizen. The usual amount of routine work has been done and property in our hands well cared for, as certified by many favorable comments received from visitors. There has been built at Ashdod a receiving vault at an expense of about three hundred and twenty-five dollars, on the lot recently purchased, which adds materially to the convenience and possibly to the appearance of the cemetery. At Mayflower some new avenues have been opened and more are needed. Owing to the very uneven surface much preliminary grading has to be done, which is expensive. Thieves have stolen for the second time all the cannon balls that were movable at Miles Standish's grave, and the Trustees offer a standing reward to any one who will furnish evidence to convict such vandals.

Number of interments in Mayflower, 39

Number of interments in Ashdod, 6

Respectfully submitted, ELISHA PETERSON, Clerk.

REPORT OF ROAD COMMISSIONER.

The larger part of the roads and bridges in town are in good condition. The bridge at Osgood's Brook, Temple street, should be overhauled and widened. There were about three miles of stone road oiled with heavy oil, also some light oil used on other roads. There should be some curves cut on West street for the safety of the public travel. Respectfully submitted,

E. W. SOULE, Road Commissioner.

REPORT OF FOREST WARDEN.

We have had numerous forest fires this year, all being ex- tinguished quickly but two, one in West Duxbury, causing a large amount of damage, and one on the Kingston line. The forest fire fighters have responded well and have done good work with the extinguishers. There has been one new fire wagon bought and other apparatus. The forest fire work is something that every man should take interest in. I expect be- fore long the state will help the town some in this work. Respectfully submitted,

E. W. SOULE, Forest Fire Warden.

REPORT OF THE CHIEF OF FIRE DEPARTMENT.

The town has been very fortunate during the year 1911, there being only one house burned and a few small fires caused from chimneys. The fire apparatus has been kept in good condition and the fire companies have shown much interest in their prac- tice. Their good work at fires and their regular meetings are well attended. I want to give the boys of both companies much praise for their good work during the year 1911. Respectfully submitted,

E. W. SOULE, Chief of Fire Department.
