REPORT OF THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE

To the Citizens of Scituate:

The Scituate School Committee presents its annual re- port as summarized by the various departments of Edu- cation which follow.

It may be noted that there are continual improvements, thus keeping up the standard of the school system.

It is through your response to the budget as offered that these things are accomplished and the Committee is grateful for your confidence.

Respectfully submitted,

BELLE HOWES CHAFFIN, MARION COLLIER ALEXANDER, DONALD S. PITKIN, School Committee.

7

REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

To the School Committee of Scituate :

I take pleasure in submitting my tenth annual report for your consideration.

CHANGES IN OUR TEACHING STAFF

There were four teacher resignations that took effect at the end of the last school year, one more than in 1934. One of these was at the Jenkins School, one in the Junior High and two in the Senior High. Miss Ruth Welch, for the past two years an assistant teacher in the third grade of the Jenkins School, resigned to be married. Her position was not filled as the third grade enrollment this year did not require a full time assistant. However, an assistant was needed for the large sixth grade and Miss Mildred Young of Scituate, a graduate of the four-year course of Bridgewater Teachers' College, was selected for the position.
