NOTE. The town for the first time made an appropriation for this object at its last annual meeting of $2400, based upon the last few years' payments, but it has proved insufficient as the list of pensioners seems to have increased quite rapidly. The whole payment however, appropriation and overdraft, is eventually re-im- bursed by the state and for this reason the treasurer has felt authorized to exceed the appropriation made by the town.
