ARTICLE 6. To see what action the town will take in relation to hiring money for any purpose.
Voted, That the Treasurer be authorized, with the approval of the Selectmen, to hire money in anticipation of the taxes of the cur- rent year, and to issue notes of the town therefor; and the debts incurred under the authority of this vote are hereby made payable from said taxes.
ARTICLE 7. To determine in what manner the taxes shall be collected for the ensuing year, and also determine what percentage shall be allowed the Collector for the ensuing year.
Voted, That interest at the rate of six per cent. per annum be charged on all taxes remaining unpaid after Nov. 1, 1905, and that the Collector shall receive for his services one and one-quarter per cent. on all taxes collected by him.
ARTICLE 8. To see if the town will authorize the Collector to use all such means in the collection of taxes as the Treasurer might if elected to that office.
Voted, That the Collector may, and he shall, use the same means in the collection of taxes that the Treasurer might if elected to that office.
ARTICLE 9. To see if the town will accept the list of jurors as prepared by the Selectmen and posted according to law.

ARTICLE IO. To see what compensation the town will allow the Fire Department for the en- suing year, or do or act anything thereto relating.
Voted, That the members of the Fire Department be paid the sum of twelve dollars per year and poll tax, and that they be paid twenty- five cents per hour while at work at fires.
ARTICLE II. To see how much per hour the town will allow for work on the highways for the year ensuing, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That it be left to the discretion of the Superintendent of Streets, but that no person who is owing the town for taxes shall receive any compensation without first deducting the amount of said person's taxes.
ARTICLE 12. To see if the town will employ a night watchman for the ensuing year, grant and appropriate money for the same, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the Selectmen be, and they are, authorized and in- structed to employ a watchman for all-night service, and that the sum of $780 be granted and appropriated for the compensation thereof.
ARTICLE 13. To see if the town will authorize the Selectmen to contract with the Medfield Electric Light and Power Company for lighting the streets of the town for the ensuing year, grant and appropriate money for the same, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the Selectmen be, and they are, authorized to con- tract with the Medfield Light and Power Company for lighting the streets of the town for the ensuing year, and that the sum of twenty- one hundred dollars ($2,100) be granted and appropriated to defray the expense of said lighting.
ARTICLE 14. To see if the town will amend Section 10 of the By-laws by substituting the words "first day of January" and "thirty-first day of December," so that the section shall read, "The fiscal year shall begin with the first day of January and end with the thirty-first day of December, annually," or do or act anything relating thereto,

Voted, That Section 10 of the By-laws be so amended as to read as follows: "The fiscal year shall begin with the first day of January and end with the twenty-first day of December, annually."
ARTICLE 15. To see if the town will accept as a perpetual trust the sum of one hundred dollars presented by Mary Abigail Grant, the interest thereof to be used for the care of the Grant- Newell lot in the public Cemetery, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the town accept as a perpetual trust the sum of $100 given for the care of the Grant-Newell lot in the Cemetery, and that the Treasurer be, and he is, instructed to invest said sum, under the direction of the Selectmen, in some institution for savings or some trust company, the interest thereof, or as much as may be necessary, to be used for the care of said lot.
ARTICLE 16. To see if the town will accept as a perpetual trust the sum of two hundred dollars presented by the estate of William Langley, the interest thereof to be used for the care of the Langley lot in the public Cemetery, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the town accept as a perpetual trust the sum of $200 given for the care of the Langley lot in the Cemetery, and that the Treasurer be, and he is, instructed to invest said sum, under the di- rection of the Selectmen, in some institution for savings or some trust company, the interest thereof, or so much as may be necessary, to be used for the care of said lot.
ARTICLE 17. To see if the town will appoint a committee to investigate the needs of the Fire Department, and report at a future meeting, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That a committee of three be appointed by the Moderator to investigate the needs of the Fire Department and report at some future meeting. It was also voted that the committee shall give at least one public hearing previous to making their report to the town. The committee appointed were George G. Babcock, Ray- mond Weiker and Albert L. Clark.
All the articles having been acted upon, the meeting was dissolved.

SPECIAL MEETING.
MAY 31, 1905.
Pursuant to a warrant issued by the Selectmen, the inhabitants of the town of Medfield, duly warned and notified in the manner prescribed by law, met at the Town Hall on Wednesday, the thirty- first day of May, 1905, at 7.45 o'clock in the evening; and the fol- lowing action was taken on the several articles contained in said warrant :-
ARTICLE I. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.
The regular Moderator being present, no action was necessary.
ARTICLE 2. To hear and act on the report of the committee appointed at the last annual meeting to investigate and report on the needs of the Fire Department; also, to grant and appro- priate any sum of money that may be necessary.
Voted, That the report of the committee be accepted and placed on file, and further consideration be referred to an adjourned meet- ing.
ARTICLE 3. To see what action the town will take in regard to necessary repairs on the Town Hall; also, to grant and appropriate any sum of money for the same.
Voted, That the Moderator appoint a committee of three to take into consideration the question of repairs on the town building and hall, and report at some future meeting. The Moderator designated the Board of Selectmen as the committee.
The meeting was then adjourned to June 7 at the same hour.
ADJOURNED MEETING.
JUNE 7, 1905.
Article 2 was taken up, and it was voted that the committee be dismissed, and that the following sums of money be granted and appropriated :-
For repairing the Hook and Ladder Truck, seventy-five dollars ($75).
For installation of electric lights in the Fire Companies' rooms, fifty dollars ($50).
For the construction of reservoirs, the location to be determined by the Selectmen, two hundred dollars ($200).
All the articles in the warrant having been acted upon, the meeting was dissolved.

SPECIAL MEETING.
AUG. 9, 1905.
Pursuant to a warrant issued by the Selectmen, the inhabitants of the town of Medfield, duly warned and notified in the manner pre- scribed by law, met at the Town Hall on Wednesday, the ninth day of August, 1905, at 7.45 o'clock in the evening; and the following action was taken on the several articles contained in said warrant :-
ARTICLE I. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.
The annually appointed Moderator being present, no action was required on this article.
ARTICLE 2. To hear and act on the report of the committee appointed at the special meet- ing, May 31, to take into consideration repairs on the Town Hall, appropriate money therefor, or do or act anything relating thereto.
The report of the committee was submitted to the town, and the several recommendations contained therein were acted upon sepa- rately. It was voted that the sum of seventy dollars ($70) be granted and appropriated for the purpose of retopping the chimneys on the Town-house, and that the Selectmen be authorized and in- structed to make any necessary repairs on the windows. The re- mainder of the recommendations were dismissed. (The report of the committee was placed on file in the Clerk's office.)
ARTICLE 3. To see what action the town will take in relation to orders received from the State Inspector of Public Buildings, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the article be dismissed.
All the articles in the warrant having been acted upon, the meeting was dissolved.

ARTICLE 2. To see what action the town will take in relation to repairing or replacing the present heating arrangement in the Town-house, appropriate money therefor, or do or act any- thing relating thereto.
Voted, That the Selectmen be, and they are, instructed to put in one or more furnaces at an expense not to exceed $300, and that for this purpose they may and shall use any surplus fund remaining in the treasury at the close of the fiscal year.
