ARTICLE 4. To see if the town will accept the reports of the several town officers for the past year.

neers of the Fire Department, it was voted "that the engineers be, and they are, instructed to ascertain the cost of a chemical engine, or some other suitable apparatus for the extinguishment of fires, and report at some future meeting."
ARTICLE 5. To grant and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to defray the expenses of the town for the ensuing year.

ARTICLE 6. To see what action the town will take in relation to hiring money for any purpose.
Voted, That the Treasurer be authorized, with the approval of the Selectmen, to hire money in anticipation of the taxes of the current year, and to issue notes of the town therefor; and the debts incurred under the authority of this vote are hereby made payable from said taxes.
ARTICLE 7. To determine in what manner the taxes shall be collected for the ensuing year, and also determine what percentage shall be allowed the Collector for the ensuing year.
Voted, That interest at the rate of six per cent. per annum be charged on all taxes remaining unpaid after Nov. 1, 1908, and that the Collector shall receive for his services one and one-quarter per cent. on all taxes collected by him.
ARTICLE 8. To see if the town will authorize the Collector to use all such means in the collection of taxes as the Treasurer might if elected to that office.
Voted, That the Collector may, and he shall, use the same means in the collection of taxes that the Treasurer might if elected to that office.
ARTICLE 9. To see if the town will accept the list of jurors as prepared by the Selectmen and posted according to law.
As the town has no jurisdiction in this matter, the article was dismissed.

ARTICLE IO. To see what compensation the town will allow the Fire Department for the ensuing year, or do or act anything thereto relating.
Voted, That the members of the Fire Department be paid the sum of twelve dollars per year and poll tax, and that they be paid twenty- five cents per hour while at work at fires.
ARTICLE II. To see how much per hour the town will allow for work on the highways for the year ensuing, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That it be left to the discretion of the Superintendent of Streets.
ARTICLE 12. To see if the town will employ a night watchman for the ensuing year, grant and appropriate money for the same, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the Selectmen be, and they are, authorized and in- structed to employ a watchman for all-night service, and that the sum of $780 be granted and appropriated for the compensation thereof.
ARTICLE 13. To see if the town will provide additional electric lights on High Street, appro- priate money therefor, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the article be dismissed.
ARTICLE 14. To see if the town will provide electric lights on Wight Street, appropriate money therefor, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the article be dismissed.
ARTICLE 15. To see if the town will appropriate money for the maintenance of existing street lights for the ensuing year.
Voted, That the sum of $2,600 be granted for the maintenance of existing street lights.
ARTICLE 16. To see if the town will build a reservoir for fire protection at the junction of South and Pound Streets, appropriate money therefor, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the Selectmen shall cause a reservoir, for fire pro- tection, to be built at the corner of South and Pound Streets, and that said reservoir shall be kept filled from the neighboring wells, by the Fire Department, until such time as satisfactory arrangement can be made with the Medfield Water Company, and that the sum of three hundred dollars be granted and appropriated for the con- struction of said reservoir.

ARTICLE 17. To see if the town will make repairs on the North School building as recom- mended by the School Committee, grant and appropriate money therefor, or do or act any- thing relating thereto.
Voted, That the sum of five hundred dollars be granted and appro- priated for the necessary repairs on the North School building, as recommended by the School Committee.
On motion of E. M. Bent the following resolution was passed: " Resolved, That it is the sense of this meeting that, whenever the annual meeting is adjourned from the day of election of officers, said adjournment shall be to the Monday evening next following." It was then voted to adjourn to Monday evening, March 16.
ADJOURNED MEETING, MARCH 16.
ARTICLE 18. To see what action the town will take in regard to repairs on the Town Build- ing in accordance with plans and specifications furnished by the Selectmen. Also to grant and appropriate any sum of money for the same, or to do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the sum of three thousand dollars be granted and appropriated for the necessary repairs on the Town House, of which two thousand dollars shall be taken from the surplus now in the treasury and one thousand dollars to be included in the tax levy of the current year. It was also voted that Edwin V. Mitchell, Lewis K. Conant, and William F. Abell be appointed a committee to have full charge of said repairs.
ARTICLE 19. To see if the town will accept from Moses Ellis Independent Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to Post 117 G. A. R., the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150), the interest to be used for the perpetual care of the soldiers' lot situated on Little Round Top, Vine Lake Cemetery, cleaning of monument, trimming shrubs, and such other work as seems neces- sary.
Upon statement by the Cemetery Commissioners that the funds in their hands were sufficient for the care of the soldiers' lot, a vote of thanks was extended to the donors, and the article was dismissed.
ARTICLE 20. To see if the town will increase the compensation of the Treasurer, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, that the compensation of the Treasurer be increased to two hundred dollars.

ARTICLE 21. To see if the town will pay four per cent. interest on the "Billings Library Fund" now loaned to the town, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the town shall pay interest at the rate of four per cent. per annum on the Billings Trust Fund now loaned to the town.
ARTICLE 22. To see if the town will change the grade of Mt. Nebo Street near the residence of S. E. Sprague, appropriate money therefor, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the article be dismissed.
ARTICLE 23. To see if the town will extend the sewer from the junction of North and Cottage Streets, on Green Street to corner of Brook Street, appropriate money therefor, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars be granted and appropriated for the extension of the sewer on Green Street, and that one-third of the cost thereof shall be paid by the town and two-thirds shall be paid by the abutters.
On motion of A. A. Lovell it was voted "that, if licenses be granted for the sale of liquor in this town, the sum of eight hundred dollars shall be taken from the amount received for said licenses and shall be used for extra police service in the district where said licenses are issued."
All the articles in the warrant having been acted upon, the meet- ing was dissolved.

SPECIAL MEETING.
AUG. 5, 1908.
At a meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Medfield, duly notified and warned in the manner prescribed by law, the following action was taken on the several articles contained in the warrant for said meeting.
ARTICLE I. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.
The moderator being present, no action was necessary.
ARTICLE 2. To hear and act upon the report of the Fire Engineers who were instructed at the annual meeting to ascertain the cost of additional fire apparatus.
Voted, That the report of the Fire Engineers be accepted and placed on file in the Clerk's office.
ARTICLE 3. To see if the town will purchase any additional fire apparatus, grant and appro- priate any sum of money therefor, or do or act anything relating thereto.
Voted, That the Board of Engineers of the Fire Department be, and they are, instructed to purchase a gasoline fire-engine for the use of the town, the cost not to exceed two thousand dollars, and for the payment of the same the Treasurer of the town is authorized, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow said sum of two thousand dollars, giving therefor the notes of the town, payable in sums of five hundred dollars each year until the whole amount of said debt is paid.
All the articles having been acted upon, the meeting was dissolved.
