Upset by Whitman Junior High Team in Overtime Game, and Howards Land Cham- pionship --- Goddards Down Titlists in Ex- hibition Game, 18 to 8.

Howard High won

Che first championship of the Junior High School Basketball League, when on Monday the Lincolns lost their chance to tie the Howards by los- ing to Whitman in an overtime game 10 to 8. This game was a play-off. In the middle of the sea- son they played a tie game after three overtime periods.

Lincoln school was unfortunate to lose their star player Centrella, who was sick and culdn't play Monday. Another blow came in the last reg- ular period, when Captain Wynn was put out of the game on personal fouls.

Whitman won the game by show- ing some of the finest foul shooting of the season. In the fourth period with the score 8 to 4 against them, the Whitman boys tied the game up by making four foul shots, a great exhibition for any team of y. ng- sters. Twohig the clever forward for: Whitman was the hero of the game, when he made two fleld goals, one in the overtime period, and two foul shots. Brady scored a field goal and a foul shot, Murray showed class in the backfield and made the point from the foul line that tied the game up.

'Wynn led the Lincolns in scoring, while Daily showed class and Thayer at centre was strong in every depart- ment of the game.

Each team played a careful g me, and very little scoring was done. The score at the end of the first . period was 2 to 0 in favor of Whit- man. At the half, the teams were tied up four all. At the nd c: the third period, Lincoln had the lead 6 to 4, and at the end of the regu- lar time it was eight all.

..

In an exhibition game, the God- dards defeated the champion How- ard team 15 to 8. Gorman and Tier- ney were the stars for the Goddards; while Swedas with four foul points and Bernoskevicz were the best for the Howards. The summarie -:
