At the annual Town Election held March 1, 1943, Mr. John S. Crosby was elected a member of the Board of Health for a term of three years. Mr. Crosby appeared before the Town Clerk March 4, 1943 qualified, and was sworn to the office.


The Board met in special session and organized for the year as follows :

A report is herewith submitted of the activities in the Board of Health Dental Clinic for the year ending Dec- ember 31, 1943.


The dental operator from January 1, 1943 to June 18, 1943 was Ernest R. Brooks, D. M. D. and from June 20, 1943 to December 31, 1943 was Carl J. Donlon, D. M. D.


The usual examinations of first-grade pupils was made in September in all schools, Public and Parochial. It was found that 62% of the 579 pupils examined needed dental treatment. Notifications were sent to the parents of these children.


The principals of the grade schools co-operated in the usual way by keeping the quota allowed each school at- tending the Clinic. Parents with pre-school children were encouraged to start dental treatment for any two years of age and up.

Gentlemen :


I herewith submit my report as Public Health Nurse for the year ending December 31, 1943.


During the year 980 visits were made to the homes of persons suffering from communicable diseases or visits re- lated thereto.


Eight persons were referred to the Board of Health physicians for examination.


Seventy patients and contacts were referred to Mid- dlesex County Sanatorium for X-ray and examination.


Assisted at the Diphtheria Immunization Clinic held at the Board of Health office in the Fall.

Assisted at the five Antirabic Clinics conducted by the Board of Health in April.


In accordance with Chapter 119 of the General Laws fifty-five investigations were made to determine the condi- tions in the homes of persons holding or applying for licenses to maintain Boarding Homes for Infants.


Saint Agnes School was visited frequently during school hours.


Red Cross Home Nursing classes were conducted two afternoons a week through June and began again in Nov- ember.


Attended a two-day institute held by the State Depart- ment of Public Health in April. The subject was the Ken- ney Method of Treatment of Infantile Paralysis.


Gave an address on the Board of Health functions at an Institute conducted by the Arlington Planning Council at the Library Hall November 20, 1943.


Assisted at the daily sessions of the Board of Health Dental Clinic and with the examination of 579 first-grade pupils in September.

ARLINGTON TOWN REPORT


REPORT OF THE PLANNING BOARD


The Planning Board respectfully submits herewith its annual report for the year ending December 31, 1943.


At the Annual Town Election held Monday, March 1, 1943, Serovp P. Basmajian and Herbert M. Dutcher were re-elected as members of the Board for three year terms.


The Board organized on Friday evening, March 5, 1943, with Harold C. Knight as Chairman and Charles H. Bowker as Secretary.


The Board was represented by its Chairman on the "Special Parks and Playgrounds Committee" and the "Advanced Programming and Budgeting Committee".


The Board has continued membership in the Massa- chusetts Federation of Planning Boards and has main- tained contact with the State Planning Board.


During the year eighteen Board Meetings were held, the major portion of the time being spent on the study and revision of the "Town Zoning By-Laws". This project has not been completed but is being continued.
