Report of Registrars of Voters
Honorable Board of Selectmen
Arlington, Mass.
Gentlemen :
The Registrars of Voters herewith submit their annual report for the year ending December 31, 1949.
Mr. James J. Golden and Mr. Ernest Hesseltine became members of the Board this year ;- Mr. Golden by virtue of your appointment of him and his subsequent election as Town Clerk and Mr. Hesseltine through his appointment to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. Dennis I. Donahue, who had served the Town faithfully and well as a Registrar since 1933.
A recount of the votes cast at the Town Election, held March 7th, for Selectman and member of the Board of Public Works, was held in Robbins Memorial Town Hall on Saturday, March 19th, at 10. A. M., and concluded at 4:55 P. M.
The Board held five evening sessions prior to the Town Election for the purpose of registering voters, at which 83 persons were qualified to become voters of the Town. Throughout the year, 251 additional persons were qualified as voters during regular business hours at the Office of the Town Clerk.
The total number of registered voters upon completion of the revision of the voting lists, as required by law, was 23,032, divided into voting precincts, as follows:
