36th. Voted, to authorize the Selectmen to get an estimate of the expense of lighting the Town House with gasoline, to report at some future meeting.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.
At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of West- ford, qualified by law to vote in Town affairs, held at the Town House, September 3, 1898, the following business was transacted:
Ist. Chose Sherman H. Fletcher Moderator.
2d. The Selectmen reported it inexpedient to take any action in regard to lighting the Town House with gasoline.
Voted, to accept the report of the Selectmen.
3d. Voted, to accept and adopt the report of the Selectmen in regard to the re-location of the road petitioned for by James H. O'Brien and others.
4th. Voted, to adopt the report of the Selectmen in regard to dividing the Town into voting precincts.
5th. Voted, that the Town appropriate two thousand dollars ($2000) to be expended under the direction of the Selectmen and Overseers of the Poor, for building an addition to the house and a lockup at the Town Farm.
6th. Voted, to accept the minutes of the meeting.
7th. Voted, to dissolve the meeting.

RE-LOCATION OF ROAD ON PETITION OF JAMES H. O'BRIEN AND OTHERS.
Upon the aforesaid petition, due notice having been given to all persons interested to meet at the house of James H. O'Brien to be heard relative to the subject matter, we, the Selectmen of said Westford, having heard all parties interested in the foregoing petition and having viewed the location, the said Selectmen pro- ceeded to re-locate said road as prayed. Beginning at a stone bound at the most easterly corner of the house of James H. O'Brien, thence South 532 degrees East 212 feet to a stone

bound at the corner of the land of Mariah Desjardines and John Flynn, as shown on plan of Thomas E. Symmes accompanying this report. The sum of five dollars ($5.00) is awarded Mariah Desjardines for land damage. Estimated cost of re-locating said road ten dollars ($10.00).
Said Town way as re-located is reported to the Town for their approval and acceptance.
Dated at Westford, Mass., this 6th day of August, 1898.

The Selectinen herewith make the following report in the division of the Town into voting precincts, under the acceptance of the Town of Section 101, Chapter 417, Acts of 1893, as voted at the annual meeting, held April 4th, 1898:
The following boundary lines are established for the several precincts :
PRECINCT NO. I.
Beginning at the Chelmsford and Westford line, at the east- erly part of the Town, on the road leading to Chamberlin's Corner to the junction of the road leading to Westford Depot near the Read farm, thence by this road to the four corners of roads near Samuel L. Taylor's, thence westerly by road to Tadmuck Brook, thence by said brook to Stony Brook, thence by said Stony Brook to small brook leading out of meadow near J. H. O'Brien's, thence by said brook to road that leads to the North Cemetery, thence by said road past the North Cemetery by the house of B. F. Nutting to the Lowell and Groton road, thence by said road to Keyes Brook, then by said brook to the Stony Brook Railroad, thence by said railroad to the road leading to Westford Centre, thence by said road to the Graniteville and Forge Village

road at the farm of J. V. Fletcher, thence by said Graniteville and Forge Village road to the Nashua, Acton and Boston Railroad near Pine Ridge Station, thence by said railroad to the railroad crossing near the West Cemetery, thence by road leading to Forge Village to junction of road leading from Littleton, thence by said Littleton road to Beaver Brook, thence by said brook to Westford and Littleton line, thence by Town lines of Westford, Littleton, Acton, Carlisle and Chelmsford to the point first mentioned.
PRECINCT NO 2.
Beginning at Westford and Tyngsboro line on road near Scribner's Hill, thence by said road to the corner of the road near the North Cemetery, thence by line already described for Precinct No. I to Westford and Littleton line, thence by Town lines of Westford, Littleton, Groton and Tyngsboro to the point first mentioned.
PRECINCT NO. 3.
Beginning at Westford and Chelmsford line on road leading to Chamberlin's Corner by line already described for Precinct No. 1, to corner of the roads near the North Cemetery, thence by line already described for Precinct No. 2, to Westford and Tyngs- boro line, thence by Town lines of Westford, Tyngsboro and Chelmsford to the point first mentioned.
The number of registered voters in Precinct No. 1 is 199. The number of registered voters in Precinct No. 2 is 176.
The number of registered voters in Precinct No. 3 is 56.
The division line of these precincts is the middle lines of roads, brooks, railroads, etc., as given in these boundaries.

We submit the following report on guide posts and guide boards. We have renewed and repainted about 20 guide boards during the year, and have on hand guide posts and guide boards to be erected in the spring at Nashoba Road, Brookside Corner and at the corner of the roads near Fletcher's quarry at the north- east part of the Town. A few guide boards should be repainted the coming year.
