The tracks of the Lowell-Fitchburg Railway in Graniteville and Forge Village were removed during the early Spring and the roads where tracks are taken off were widened and rebuilt, a fast turn was made near Depot, at Graniteville to make corner more safe.
Several catch basins have been repaired and a new one was built on top of the hill at Bridge St. To stop wash of hill at the same place a very bad corner was cut off and graded. This construction abolished not only an eyesore but also a dangerous condition, there is now ample road width at this point.
During the year many warning signals have been placed at the dangerous curves and intersecting streets. Side roads have been gone over and widened as well as many stones removed.

The superiority of our oil-surfaced roads, over those of dirt or gravel has been greatly emphasized during the past season. The other oiled and surface roads were scarified, rolled and re-oiled where needed, these roads have had a lot of attention and were patched as soon as small holes started to appear, preventing the road from going to pieces.
