The State Pioneer Society was organized April 22, 1874, under a special charter. The object is the " Collecting and preserving of historical, biographical, and other information in relation to the State of Michigan." Any person forty years of age. and twenty-five years a resident of the State, is eligible to membership on payment of one dollar.

STATE ASSOCIATIONS.


The annual meetings are held in Lansing on the first Wednesday in June. Semi- annual meetings or social reunions may be held at such time and place as the executive committee may direct.


Volumes I and II of the Pioneer Collections can be obtained of the Secretary of the Society at the reduced price of seventy-five cents per copy. Volumes III to XX inclusive, are sold by the State Librarian at seventy-five cents per copy. Post- age on each. if sent by mail, eighteen cents.


Material for three additional volumes has been collected.


The Society received an appropriation of $500 for current expenses, and $2,000 publishing fund, for each of the years 1891 and 1892.
