REGISTRATION OF VOTERS.
Voters are required to register in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Con- necticut, Florida, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont and Vir- ginia. In Georgia registration is required in a few counties ; in Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska in all cities. In Illinois registration is required, but, except in a few cities, a legal voter not registered may vote upon filing an affidavit by himself and another known legal voter that he is a qualified voter and has not already voted. In Minnesota registration is required in cities of 1,200 inhabitants or over ; in Mis- souri, in cities of 100,000 and over; in New Jersey, in cities of over 10,000 inhabi- tants; in Wisconsin, in cities of 20,000 inhabitants or over; in Ohio, in Cincinnati and Cleveland only. Registration is not required in Arkansas, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia. It is prohibited in Arkan- sas, Texas and West Virginia by the constitution. In New York, voters in cities must register personally ; in all other places within the State they may register on the first two registration days by proxy.
