WALL, WATER or WALTER (sup. English), among the early settlers of Gd, where he was granted a plantation-lot Aug. 10, 1645, as per Gd rec. Sept. 22, 1654, he bought of "Enum Benum" plantation-lot No. 14; and Nov. 9, 1658, he bought of Wm Smith of Hempstead plantation-lot No. I in said town, all as per Gd rec. A Mary Wall, either his dau. or sister, appears to have been in service with Nathan- iel Brittan, who in an agreement with Water promised to give said Mary at the end of her term of service 2 suits of clothes and a cow calfe, as per Gd rec. Removed to E. N. J., where his descendants reside, one of whom, Garret D. Wall, was Governor of the State. Issue :- Rutgert, bp. July 25, 1651, in N. A., aged 4 years; and Maria, bp. at the same time, aged three fourths of a year. Made his mark to doc- uments. A Walter Wall, aged 16, was transported to St. Christopher's in 1635, as per p. 126 of Hotten's Lists of Emi- grants.

WANTENAER, ALBERT CORNELYSEN, of Br", (or Albert Cor- nelise, the glovemaker,) emigrated from Vechten in the province of Utrecht in 1642, residing at first in N. A., where he learned the trade of a wheel-wright. He m. Tryntje Harders wid. of Huyck Aertsen Van Rossum, and finally settled in Br", of which place he was a mag. in 1654, '55, '56, '57, '63, and '64, and on the patent of said place of 1667. June 21, 1677, he obtained in his own name a confirmatory patent for Van Rossum's farm in Br", a few years ago known as the Powers farm, which he occupied and after- wards sold to Michael Hansen Bergen. A., in charge of the estate of Nicholas Vol- thuysen, a parcel of land in Flh on the E. side of the road, cong. 18 morgens, with plain and meadow land abutting on Canarisie flats or plains, with 2 small house-plots, as per p. 109 of Lib. A of Flh rec. The name in the deed is simply Anthony Jansen, by which name he is generally designated on the FIh rec. Apl. 13, 1698, William his s. and heir confirmed a sale made by his dec. father to John Emans of plantation-lot No. 13, as per Gd rec. Signed his name "Obadiah Willkins."


William of Gd, of which place he was among the early settlers in 1646, where he was allotted a plantation-lot. He m. Dec. 29, 1672, Annetje dau. of Nicholas Stillwell, a wid. In 1698 his w. signed her name "Alse Wilkins," who may have been a 2ª w. He held in partnership with Bar- tholemew Appelgate a mill in Gd which, in consequence of their disputes, being allowed to get in disorder, the town was directed by the court of sessions to repair and use the same until the costs of the repairs were reimbursed, as per Gd rec. Suppose this mill to have been located on what was known as Hubbard's Creek. Was a mag. of Gd from 1650 to '65, as per town rec. Issue :- Obadiah. Made his mark "W " to documents.

WOLSY, JORIS, came to N. A. in 1647; m. Dec. 9, 1647, in N. A., Rebecca Cornell. Issue :- Sara, bp. Aug. 7, 1650; Joris, bp. Oct. 18, 1652; Rebecca, bp. Apl. 4, 1659; Johannes, bp. Jan. 16, 1661; Marritje, bp. Mar. 19, 1664-all at N. A .; and William and Marritje, bp. June 30, 1678, at Brī, by. which it may be inferred he resided there at that date. There was, as per p. 128 of Vol. IV. of the Genealogical Rec- ord, a George Woolsey, an English boy, b. in 1610, who had resided with his parents in Rotterdam, came over in a Dutch vessel with emigrants in 1623 and went to Plymouth, Mass., and in 1647 made his appearance in N. A. In 1648 he was a fire-warden in said city. In 1661 there was a George Woolsey among the freeholders of Ja, and in the beginning of the 18th century there were Woolseys, proba- bly descendants of Joris or George, residing in Flds. Signed his name "Joris Wolsy."

Ruth (Rutgert) Janse, ag. 8 years, to his brother-in- law Lourens Jurianse for 8 years to do all kinds of service proper for a lad; Jurianse to board, clothe, and send to evening school said lad, and at the end of the term to fur-

Aug. 16, 1680, he sold to Anthony Wansair a lot and orchard in Flh, as per p. 131 of Lib. AA of Fih rec. Mar. 1, 1694-5, Jan Wouters of N. Y., shoe- maker, to which place he appears to have removed, sold to Lammert Zichels, smith, a house and lot in Flh on the E. side of the highway, as per p. 204 of Lib. A of FIh rec. Bought a tract of 600 A. at Middlebush and one of 600 A. at Three Mile Run, N. J. Was a deacon in Freehold D. ch. in 1715, and an elder in 1719, '23, and '27. Issue-John; Cornelis, who m.
