In 1679 he was a domestic cattle-trader at the South, as per p. 132 of Vol. 1 of Memoirs of L. I. His. Society. Signed his name "Henry Bowman."
BOWNE, ANDREW, of the city of N. Y. and of N. J., d. about 1707, his will being da. May 16, 1707, and letters of admin- istration granted in N. J. on his estate Nov. 19, 1716, to Obedyah Bowne. Oct. 25, 1687, he sold to "Josta Rutt" (Joest Rutgersz Van Brunt) the moiety of a parcel of meadows in Gd formerly of Wm Bredenbent, as per Gd rec. In 1691 he sold 15 A. in Gd which formerly belonged to his father, Wm Bowne. In 1692 he was a member of the Council of East New Jersey, as per p. 155 of Rec. of Gov. and Council. In 1698 he was president of the court of ses- sions of Middletown, N. J., and Oct. 15 of the same year, hailing from Monmouth Co., he conveyed to Samuel Gar -. retsen and Mary Remmertsen (mother of Samuel) of Gd several parcels of land in Gd, as per p. 193 of Lib. 2 of Con., all formerly of his father, Wm Bowne. Represented Gd in the Hempstead convention of 1665. Was one of the patentees of Middletown, N. J., as per p. 73 of Vol. I of Raum's N. J., where he appears to have resided as early as 1667, and where he took the oath of allegiance in 1668. Was elected to the Provincial Assembly in 1680, as per p. 87 of Cal. of Eng. Man., and 1682 was speaker, as per p. 107, and was appointed justice of the peace for Monmouth Co.

John (s. of John and Lydia), b. Apl. 1, 1664, in Gd; m. Frances Left Gd with his father and settled at Mid- dletown, N. J. In 1684 he petitioned the Gov. and Council ® for a warrant of survey for 500 A. his deceased father, John Bowne, was entitled to as a patentee of the Neversinks, as per p. 107 of the Rec. of the Gov. and Council of E. N. J., which he obtained Mar. 10, 1685, and which he sold in 1693 to the Schencks. In 1704 he was elected a mem. of the Provincial Assembly of N. J., as per p. 41 of the Journal of the House of Representatives of said State. His will is da. Sept. 14, 1714, pro. Feb. 15, 1715, and from its provisions infer he had no children.
Obedya (s. of John and Lydia), b. July 18, 1666, in Gd; m. Left Gd with his father and settled on a tract of 632 A. in Pleasant Valley, Monmouth Co., N. J. In 1703 he was elected a mem. of the Provincial Assembly of N. J., as per p. 41 of the Journal of the House of Representatives of said State. By his will, da. in 1725, he devised his lands to his chil. Issue :- John, Cornelius, Obedya, Thomas, Sarah, Anne, and Lydia.
William, among the first settlers of Gd, where he was allotted a plantation-lot Nov. 18, 1656, as per Gd rec., and of which town he was a mag. in 1651, '55, '56, '57, '61, and '62. He and his sons came to Gd with Lady Mody, and with them and others of said town obtained a patent in 1665 for a large tract at Middletown, N. J., to which he and his sons removed, and in which State they are principally to be found. In 1677 letters of administration were granted to John Bowne of Middletown on the estate of his father William, " heretofore of Gravesend" and late of Middle- town. BOYCE, CORNELIS, (sup. English,) on ass. roll of Gd of 1683. In 1785 Cornelis Boyce, one of his descendants, sold his house and lot in the village of Gd to John Emans, as

He and his w. made a joint will June 22, 1670, in which after their death they devised their property to Marrike (Mary) Tomas Baddie da. of Altien by a former husband, as per p. SI of Lib.
