Served one year in the Keystone Battery of Philadelphia, in the Civil War; in April, 1864, he removed to N. Y. City and became a partner of C. P. Trame, in firm of Frame & Hare, which he- came, Jan. 1, 1-66, Frame, Hare & Lockwood, who represented several fire insurance com- panies, and were U. S. managers London Assurance Corp'n. On Oct. 1. 1877, the firm was dissolved, Mr. Lockwood withdrawing with the London Assurance, the remaining partners continuing business in eld name; in May. 1-70, the firm became mg'r Norwich L'nion Fire Office of England, and continued so until Dec. 31, 1-8, when they dissolved ; since then, sole U.
