SOUTH SIXTH-STREET, WEST SIDE, CONTINUED. The German Catholic Church, called the Holy Trinity, is built here. It is 100 feet long, and 60 feet broad, with cellars under the whole. This church deferves the attention of the builders of places of worfhip more than any other in this city, becaufe part of the cellar is convert- ed into a feminary of learning. The floor of the church is raifed about three feet from the ground, and the cellar funk about feven feet under it, a Part of which is floored, partitioned off, lathed, plaiftered and glazed, and makes a comfortable fchool-room.
There are about 54,000 fquare feet occupied by the different places of worfhip in this city, thefe, if cellared as the above, would make 135 fchool-rooms of twenty feet fquare each, and would be fufficient to contain 5000 children. The buildings would be the better for being ufed. Å fchool has been kept above twenty years, to my knowledge, under a church in one of the Southern States. - Cross Spruce and Pine-Streets.
