Chrift Church prefents itfelf here, it has a beautiful appearance ; the following account of it is taken from authentic documents, viz.
Chrift's Church, not the building now fo called, but another which ftood in the fame place, was founded about the year 1695, and two additions were made to it before the year 1727, when an enlargment of it was made by the building of the Weftern part of the prefent Church, with the fteeple which was then begun. The Faftern part of the prefent Church was begun in 1731, the old building being then pulled down; this beautiful Church is ninety feet long and fixty feet wide. The fteeple is 190 feet high, has a ring of eight bells, with galleries and convenient pews for one thoufand people. The re- mains of the VENERABLE FRANKLIN are interred in the North- weft Corner of the burying ground belonging to this Church.
The Parochial clergy are, The Right Reverend WILLIAM WHITE, D. D. Rector of this Church and St. Peter's.
The affiftant Minifters of the laft mentioned Churches are the Reverend Robert Blackwell, D. D. and the Reverend James 'Abercrombie.
The other three Epifcopal Churches are, St. Peters, St. Paul's and St. Thomas's, which are under the fuperintendance of the Right Reverend Dr. WHITE ; they will be defcribed in their proper places.
