Laredo Seminary

Laredo, Texas A HIGH-GRADE SCHOOL FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Founded in 1882, and maintained by the Woman's Missionary Council of the Methodist Episcopal Church. South. The grounds comprise sixteen acres in the eastern part of the city. Shade trees in abundance, tropical plants in profusion, elegant drives and promenades-an ideal school home for boys and girls. There are seven good substantial buildings, and all well equipped for school work. The Seminary has a yearly attendance of more than three hundred students. The teaching force numbers about fifteen. These have been well prepared for their work, most of them being college and university graduates. Instruction is given in the ordinary academic branches, preparing students for any college or university in the country; in music, instrumental and vocal : in expression; in art, including penmanship, drawing, water colors, crayon, pastel, oil, and china decoration: and in all commercial subjects. Boys are under military discipline receiving ample instruction and care'ul drill at the hands of an army-trained young man. This young gentleman teacher lives with the boys, and directs all their sports.

School is in session nine months, opening in September, and closing the latter part of May. Rates are very reasonable. Students admitted at any time. Special attention to English for Mexican children-best advantages in this line to be found in Southwest Texas.

stitution of learning that from year to year has exhibited a spirit of enterprise which has kept it in the forefront of scholastic merit and set the seal of suc- cess upon the labors of its founders. Its claim of superiority is founded upon the substantial results which it has accom- plished in its history and on its present unequalled means and thoroughly ac- complished corps of experienced teachers. In its line the Laredo Seminary is said to have quite a monopoly.

Among the more important industrial institutions are the 4 large brick works, the Laredo Roller Mills, 2 ice plants. foundry and machine shop, gas engine works, cigar factories, bottling works, flour mill, railroad shops and coal mines. If you are looking for a location in almost any line of husiness you will find in Laredo chances, in many lines su- perior opportunities. You will find a magnificent climate, cheap fuel, electric power, low freight rates, and every op- portunity desirable for manufacturing and a business community that will ex- tend any possible favor. As a home city Laredo is not surpassed by any city in the State. Its people are thriving and saving. Schools. churches and amuse- ment places are numerous. The leading secret and benevolent orders are repre- sented. In a word life is worth living at Laredo. This city has the goods-all they ask is for you to come and see for yourself. Tel., W. U. and T.
