Population 1,000. A prosperous town on the A. T. & S. F. Ry .. 76 miles east of Amarillo, in Roberts county, of which it is the judicial seat. Eleva- tion 2,743 feet. Is the center uf a fertile farming country, well adapted to cat- tle raising and crops of wheat, corn, kaffir corn and milo maize, oats, cane, hay and broom corn. In 1910 200.000 bushels of wheat were marketed at Mi- ami; in 1911 300,000 hushels, and in 1912 400.000 bushels, which shows a steady increase of production of wheat in this section. About 300 car loads of cattle and 50 car loads of broom corn were marketed from this point in 1912. Wheat yields per acre about 25 bushels. Good land can be purchased at prices ranging from $5 to $35 per acre, but on : rising market. Mlami has good water, good climate, and a progressive, indus- trious moral citizenship. Has Baptist. Methodist, Presbyterian and Christian churches, graded and high schools. 2 banks, 2 first class hotels, 4 grain ele- vators, a weekly newspaper, The Chief, a $45,000 court house under construction.
