"On Sloantown Road going toward BARNETT CEMETERY (Duffield #70) in the Big Ridge on hill in back of what was JAMES BAXTER PIERSONs home and next to his, SAMUEL HALL PIERSON is buried an infant son of JAMES BAXTER and LOUISE SLOAN PIERSON. And an infant baby of SAMUEL HALL and NELLIE JANE PIERSON. Information given me by ROXIE PIERSON RAMEY, daughter of JAMES BAXTER and LOUISE PIERSON. I had been told by a daughter of SAMUEL HALL and NELLIE JANE PIERSON, that there was a possible miscarriage in their family about 1920 or 1921."

ZACHARIAH FUGATE, born Jan 2 1792 in Russell Co. Va, the son of COLBERT FUGATE (1759-1819), inherited the plantation in Scott Co. through his father's will. This ZACHARIAH died circa 1842, and is said to be buried with his wife SUSANNAH SEYMOUR (b. May 17 1797, died after 1860) on the FRED WOLFENBARGER farm in the CARTER/NIMROD TAYLOR CEMETERY - Clinchport #14.

This cemetery has 8 or 10 graves with fieldstone markers. The area has practically returned to nature. Inscribed markers have fallen over, covered by dirt, pine needles, etc.

"Volume 1 you say this cemetery was quite grown over. I found it 4-5 years ago just as you said. I went to work, first with knives cut honeysuckle then with the chain saw, cut trees, took the wood, then burned brush. Then came the job of filling the graves, 8 or 10 were sunk waist deep.
