Was chartered June 22, 1865, by uniting the Hart- ford Beneficent Society which was formed in 1809 and chartered in 1818 for Female Orphans, and of the Boys Orphan Asylum, which was chartered in 1888. The building first occupied stood corner of Albany av. and Woodland st. The second building at 102 Washington st. was torn down, July, 1886. The third edifice is now occupied on Russ st.
