LONG PERIODS OF DROUGHT.


Since the year 1621 there have been about thirty summers in which no rain fell in America, for weeks or months in succession. The longest period of drought was in 1762, when there was no fall of rain from the 1st of May to the 1st of September, a period of 128 days.
