Sunday afternoon Executive Board Meeting.


The Press. suggested that we send something to Mrs. Bailey, New Castle. It was decided to send money Astart a bank account for the new baby. Mrs. Hannah Nichola asked for credentials to the Quadrennial. She will hear her own expenses. Since we have five Delegates, No. Nichols can be sent by her local.


Quadrennial Delegates expense. Train fare via chair can $15.08. Duesplet. 00 - one dollar for each year Dues are paid by Delegates. Registration 1.00 Board $16.00. Total expense fev Delegate $32.08 Three Delegates $96.24


The expense for the Quadrennial Delegates will be taken from the list, mothers and mite Box Depts. The annual dues from each local member should be collected. The amount is fifty cents. It makes the persons paying it members of this Conference Branch.


The amount banked this year is $1086.40 Motion that Mo. Hill's dues be paid was carried. Mrs. Handy has served as Pres. of Parent M.M. Society for twenty four years. It was decided to send her to the Quadrential a testimonial of $1.00 for each year. Executive Board Meeting, 3:00 P. M.


The Ind. Conference Branch of A. M. M. Societies held it's Executive Board Meting Thursday afternoon at three o'clock in the Pastor's Study as Allen Chapel, with Mrs. G. 73. Hill State President presiding.


The meeting was opened with prayer offered by the State Chaplain, Mrs. C. P. Smith of Terre Haute.


The President instructed the Finance Committee concerning the method of reporting finances and they were sent to their Com. room. Delegates were instructed to report their assignment and Contingent moneys to them at once. The Roll Call show ad eighteen members and forty - eight delegates present.


The President explained that several changes would be made in the Conference Branch by order of the Parent Body at the last Quadrennial in Columbus, Ohio. 1. Will Conf. Branch Treasurers must give bond here after. The Conf. Branch pays for it.


2. Conference Branch Secretaries are to be paid a salary.


2. The Sonic Cards will not be used in the future. The Parent Body has made out a course of study which. all Missionary Societies must follow.


Lesson Courses will be sold to the Locals by the State. The President urged Societies to follow the course. The instructed the Board Members to see that the best Christian teacher be put in charge of the Mission Study work. She insisted that her life must be such that her teaching will have force. The course must be taken up. Each State Officer is responsible to take the course back to their local and help but The course through Copies will be given the Board Members to chamine at this Convention.


The President urged the Board to see that their work societies elect their (Officers immediately after the Con- vention and get down to work at once. Because if they wait until april to get ready it will be too late. President's Blan." Missimany Dina" is the Presidents Plan for raising money

for the annual Convention. This Drive is to be held in The month of October. The membership of all Churches are To be camaused for pledges for missions. Drive Jeans will becake the canvas and collect the pledges. The Drive will be concluded with a Rally Day, conducted after the usual manner and the funds, all of them are to be sent directly to the state immediately.


This leaves the Locals in position to help with other Church work without working a hardship upon Their members. Other funds raised during the year will be brought to the Convention and added to the Drive Money sent in the last of October.

Rev. C. L. Upthegrove, P. E. of the Southern District presided at the opening Session of the 30th annual State Convention of the And Conference Branch of A.M. M. Societies which is being entertained by the local M. M. Society of allen Chapel, Terre Haute Ind. Rev. C. P. Smith, Pastor and Mis. Daisy E. Hard local President.


After devotionals which were conducted by Mrs. Mitcham, Terre Haute the State Officers and distinguished guests were led into the Convention by Mother Handy Connectional Pres of the Parent Body of Baltimore, Maryland.


Have Time Own Way Land" was sung by the Con vention Choir with Mrs. Sworden Indpes, directing. Scripture Lessons were read by Dra Upthegrove and Popechiple. Prayer was offered by Rev. Thompson, Evansville Princeton Solid Pick was sung by Convention and Y. P. Choir. Per Gavens, Vincennes, read Math. 28:12-21 for a Scripture Lesson. Bread of Life was sung by the State Frio , Mesdames Shannon, Sworden and Samuels, all of Indianapolis.


Rev. R.L. Pope led the Decaloque. While," Thow Thinkest Lord Of Me "was sung, Per. C.J. Smith escorted mother Handy, Baltimore, Md, Connectional Pres. and Mrs. G. B. Hill, State Pres of Ind. Conf. Branch to the rostrum.


New. Upthegrove spoke words of welcome to the Connectional Pres, Mother Handy, and then introduced the State President, Mrs. Hill to whom he presented the gavel of the Convention .. The President declared the Convention when and called for the report of the Chairman of the Program Corn. Mrs. Shemme Snadpls, 1st Vice Pres, made the report which was adopted and presented the programs to the President. Have Thine Own Way"was sung softly by the Convention.


The State hes, introduced Rev. E. L. Reality of Evansville who preached the annual Sermon for the Convention. The mentioned the fact that the Missionary druety o dink. had helped him as a struggling young Minister and ever since that time he has never failed to organize and help Missionan Societies in every charge to which he is sent. Rev. Rabitry took as his tiph Isaiah 9:11-verses. "and many should say, Come let us go upinto the ML. of the Lord, Subject, Messiah's peaceful reign" This stirring message.

Mitcham Terre Haute, Dr. Wallace P.E. on the Northern District was escorted to the rostrum. all young girls and young workers, here for the first time were called to the altar for consecration. Mother Handy offered the fervent prayer of Consecration and Dr. Oda Mae Miller, Ind', sang,"I Know a Great Savior Do" The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison and the right hand of fellowship was extended while the convention

after Consecration the Holy Sacrament was administeral to ninety-three persons by Ras. Alpthegrove and Hallace assisted by visiting Ministers and Evangelists.


The right hand of fellowship was extended. Dinner being ready, the Pres announced that the remainder of the morning's program would be postponed until the afternoon. The afternoon session was called for 1:45 P.M. so we can arrange & save time today and get over to see Spruce Strast's new Church Saturday if possible.

Friday afternoon Session 1:45 p.M.


The President called the Afternoon Session to order at 1:45 P.M. Sister Johnson ted in Singing, " Savior More than Life To The" Sister Johnson and Sister the Survey of Washington were asked to lead the Devotionals and responded by singing, " Jesus Keep Me Hear The Gross"


Prayer was offered by Sister De Journet. Scripture Lesson, St. John 6 Chap. was read by Sister Johnshe sings Un My Journey Home and I'm Going There were sung. After the Dustimals the Role Ly State (Officers was called. It showed twenty-one present. They responded with Biblical quotations.


The President asked the young people and others who sing to form the Convention Chows under The. Sworden. The martinik that as one of the ways M. T. can serve and That they must be given something toldo and to made to. feel welcome.


The report of the Credentials Com was called for The Pres. explained that the Secy of the Credentials Com. sent out the credentials this year and they should be retired to her. This will be the method in the future. no more credentials will be sent out by the Financial decay Before the report was made the Puis, talked to the women. The report showed sixteen Delegates from the Southern District, twenty nine Delegates from The northern District and twenty- two State Officials present making a total enrollment of sixty-seven.

had said that in all the years the M.M. work has fin organized and despite the many thousands of dollars handled not one henny had gone astray" HE said that was the highest testimonial of the fineness of the work done and a tribute of the leaders, Dr. Shannon of Indble. also took leave on the Convention, HE said he had hard' grasped the magni. tude of the work of this Dept ventil he attended this Cowentin this year. He that because of the greatness of the work the President should be placed Cupon atpermanent salary and made a member of the annual Conference He again dedicated his life to the cause of missional.


Dr. A. P. D. Wallace, P. E. on the northern District was presented and spoke words of encouragement. He pled for more sacrificial service for missions; for more young men and women to go to foreign fields and live for the cause of Chick :- those who would go not just for a trip on a stepping stone to higher places back home.


Mis. Thompson, Princeton and Rer, Thompson were presented. They expressed their pleasure of being our guests. Rev. N. B. Moore, 2nd. Baptist Church, Jene Haute Iwas introduced and made a stirring appeal for missions . He spoke on the four Hours of missions and the personal obligation of each Christian to missions. love is not true to Christ, to Church, not true to yourself unless one feels it his privilege to give a definite service for missing is one of the strong statements made by the specten. Rev. & Mrs. Craven Vincennes were asked to meet the four o'clock train for Miss Comanda Mason, our returned Missionary. The Financial Secy called the Districts for reports.

Before going into the quiet hour a song" Just a Little While" was sung for Mother Handy, who is especially fond of singing. The song was rendered by the State Tris. Mesdames Snowden Shannon and Samuels all of Indianapolis.


The Quiet How was conducted by Rev. Mitcham of Terre Haute. " all Hail The Power Of Jesus' Name was sing by the Convention while standing. HE talked upon the Beatitudes and illustrated with a chart, His subject "Spiritual Mountain Climbing" Ist. step Humility- conscious need. and stop. Penitence- mourning for sin. 3d. meeke ness - new birth, 4th - Spiritual appetite, signifying growth. 5th, Mercifulness_attribute of god father and- france, 6th, Heart Purity vision of God. If the Peacemaker calming the storms of life 8the Suffering for Christ- standing with the martyrs." Solo war rendered ty Miss Mary J. Lindsey, Marion, Ind., " Lord For Tomorrow and Its needs" This closed the session !.


Rehearsal for the Pageant was called for immediately by Mrs. Heinz, the director.


Friday night Session. The Song Service was conducted by New haven of Vincennes Jat 6:30 P.M.


The Spruce St. Choir, Terre Haute opened the night session with song. Silent pranger was made while the organist played,"Surat How Of Prayer" softly. Song " Jesus Saves was rindered by the Chow, Scripture lesson was offered by Mrs. Iresta Having Dupls. Reading "the Sunset Bridge was given Of Mrs. Nettie Gibson, Andplo. The Choir sang, Beautiful Gion." Mrs. Enica Duffy, Terre Haute Mistress of Ceremonies introduced Mrs. Handy, Baltimore Md, the Connectional President who brought greetings to the Convention, For twenty years she has been Connectional Pres. and dur- ring that time there has never been any money un- accounted for. Mother Handy spoke of the connectional work, of the great success that God had granted it. $2,000 was the amount raised by the Con- Irection during its last Quadrennial. The two Presidents were made members of the general Conference by acclamation. She urged Indiana women to prepare to put a member upor the Parent Body board at the next Quadrennial. She asked Terre Haute Missionary women to help Spruce St. Church and those in Indianapolis to help When Chapel, the weged the women to keep sweet pray and work for the success of the cause.


Flowers were presented from the J. H. Local to Mother Handy by Mix. C.J. Hyte Terre Haute. a vocal solo My Task" was rended by Mrs. Effic Bass, Richmond, as an Encore she sang,"Lord For Tomorrow I Do not Pron". After that number the Mistress of Ceremonies introduced our State Pres, Mrs. G. B. Hill! Indpls, who delivered her annual Message to the Convention. She mentioned the pleasure her coming to Terre Haute afforded, and promised & give a heart- to- heart talk rather than an address. She defended the Departments in the Missionary Societies, because of the work they are doing and the money they are bringing in because we have outgrown, the penny crowd. It takes dollars to put over the program for missions. The african boys outslip the american boys and girls, after three years Hastings Banda will finish the four year College course at this force and will graduate meth week. Africans have only the chance that mission afford thank.


Ministers who are helped sometimes fail to encourage the Missimary Societies. They are ingrates. She asked the women to be faithful do their duty. She said the Sind. Conference Branch while not large is one of the finest and the woman the trest in the world. She explained the meaning of the Departments. mothers. To bring mothers together to discuss probleme peculiar to them and to get them interested. Young People - Must be trained for service. Because there is more & ile than just pleasure Train them up

so they will enjoy the work. Don't give up, don't sur- render. Then trials ( come gird on your armour and say, "I have just begun to fight. She declared the Church is the truest and best institution in the world. Christ is the Church and where Christ is, is low. Hate and malice cannot enter. When you feel like giving up remember the world never gives up and neither can we. She asked that missionary work he not judged by the mistakes made, huf by the good the a. M. E. women are doing. She asked the women to help those who need, who are down and desire to be helped up. She asked the women to sacrifice a few moves to help the Mission work. To bring more than just pennies to the Convention. The need is so insistent. She is no longer content to live in the house by the side of the road. She wants to walk in the road, for some may need a crust, a drink of water, a word of encouragement. And when we walk in the road with. men and women we meet more of them and we shall stand in the sunlight. Because Christ has said "in as much as you did it to the heart of these, my children you did it unto me. Flowers and presentation spruches were given to Fs. Hill how the local diety.

The Chaliment called their Commuters to meet in the morning.

Saturday Morning Seesing June 16, 1928.


The Devotionals were conducted by the Young People's Delegates Mesdames Sworden and Bailey, Chairman. Theme, "Reverence For God's House" Math: 21:1-7 after singing and prayer a testimonial meeting was enjoyed. It was inspiring to hear these U.P. Htestify. The presence of Mother Handy and Miss Amanda Mason added impressiveness to the ser. vice. Mother Handy, approaching the end of the journey and Wir Mason and the U.P. at it's beginning testifying to the same power of Jesus' love made a thrilling story. The pages were instructed to notify the Committees the Convention was ready to open. While waiting the Committees to come in, the Pres thanked the U. D. for their splendid meeting. She cautioned the Colder Delegates to be careful to make no remarks

The paper left over from Friday aftermom was called for, Mrs. Barber of Kokomo read a paper on the jubject, The True Measure Of Giving" Discussion h/ Mrs. Johnson Jeffersonville, Mrs. M. V. M. Cullsigh Convenable and Mrs. Lindsey, Frankfort. Instrumental Solo- Miss Pauline Going, Richmond Ind. This finished the work of the Friday afternoon Session.


I paper on" the Importance of Bible Study To Missionary Work was read by Mrs. Eddie Bunden Martin, and. Discussion by Mrs. Leva Ramay, Anderson, Mrs. De Journet Washington, MissLee, Noblesville, Mis- Hill asked Miss Lee to keep her paper and it will be sent to the Missionary Recorder for publication, Miss Lindsey, Marion, sand,"I Would Be Drie " and"I'm So Glad Truth Don't Last always" The Missionary Study Course prescribed by the Parent Body was put in Charge of Ms. Heinz Undpls and Mrs. Bailey, Marion, assistant. The Pres explained that this course must be studied and a report made at the next Convention.


The Pres. told the women that they must attend the Prayer meeting sometime, They are posing as Missionaries before the state and she does not want any local Pes who doesn't attend Prayer Meeting. In apponting or selecting Officers, be careful to get women who are Christians first and interested in Missionary Work. The Study Course is to cost 154 each. Delegates were supplied and their names taken. They will be permitted to pay later if they so desire. Copies were presented by the State to Revs. Uptheguns and Habitoy. his soon as the election is held begin upon the Study Course; if more copies are needed, send to the Train for the same.
