I have this day delivered to the Wardens of Precinct one and two, all the ballots and cards of instructions, sent out by the Secretary. of the Commonwealth, for the State Primitives held this day.

Agreeably to the foregoing warrant the voters met at the Town Hall for Precinct I on Tuesday. the 15th day of September 1942 at 7.00 A.M. and cast their ballots for the following named officers.


The polle opened at 7.00 o'clock A . M . by Joseph B. Matthews, the ballot-box was opened and shown to be empty, then closed, locked, and the key placed in the hands of Constable Rich- andson.

Precinct 2.


1942. Record of State Primary election September 15, 1942 Precinct 2 Town of Boxford. Meeting called to order and warrant read by Arthur A. Anger, at seven o'clock A.M.


The ballot box was examined by the precinct officers and the public, and found to be empty. It was then locked and the key taken by and held the constable Clayton A. Nelson. the register indica- teg 000 the polls were opened at Toclock A.M.


At 2 o'clock P. M. the polls were closed the register indicating 35. The officers in charge of the check lists announced the number of names checked to be 35, the ballots were then taken from the ballet box and audibly counted one by one and the whole number was found to be 35. The precinct officers then proceed to count the votes received with the following results.

1942. Record of Precinct 2, Town of Boxford, State Election, Tuesday, November 3 , 1942,


In accordance with the requirements of the war - rant issued by the Selectmen dated Oct. 26, 1942 the inhabitants of Precinct 2, Town of Boxford, qualified to vote in elections, met in Lincoln Hall on Tuesday November 3, 1942.


The warrant was read by Arthur A. Anger, The ballot boy after being inspected examined by the precinct officers and the public was found to be empty. It was then locked and the key taken hand held by Clayton A. Nelson the Constable in attendance, the register indicating 000.


At seven o'clock A.M. The presiding officer called upon those persons qualified to vote in elections, to bring in their ballots for the purpose is expressed in the warrant. At 2-15 o'clock P.M., The polls were closed the register indicating 103. The officers in charge of the check lists then proceeded to count the names checked on said lists, and found the whole number to be 101.


The ballot box was then opened and the ballots taken therefrom and audibly counted only one in the presence of the precinct officers and the public, and the whole number was found to be 101. The precinct officers then proceeded to count the votes received with the following results.

In accordance with the provisions of of Chapter 54 of the General Laws, the Town Clerks of Boxford Danvers, Middleton and Topsfield, said Towns comprising the Eighth Esser Representative District, met at 12 o'clock noon on Friday, the thirteenth day of November, 1942 in the office of the Town Clock of Danvers, the place designated for such meeting, for the purpose of examining and comparing the transcript of returns, to ascertain what person was elected To represent said District in the General Court of the Commonwealth.

We the citizens of Burford, Massachusetts in Town Meeting assembled on March 1. 1943 do hereby resolve: Whereas, our Nation is now engaged in a war of not its seeking with determined and withles foes, we do pledge our loyalty, devotion, and sern ces to our Nation to the end that this war shall be brought to a successful and victorious con- clusion; and be it


Resolved; that we do express our thanks and appreciation to the men of this Town who are in the armed services of the United States For- erment. We do fully realize that it is they tige the with the millions of other young men drawn from the different parts of the country, whose devotion to duty, whose constant courage, and whose outstanding bravery stand between us and The agencies of destruction and cruelty.


It is They who are now preserving the priceless heritage of the democratic way of life which their Boxford ancestors of hast years fought to establish and to perpetuate. and be it further


Resolved: That we, the citizens of Boxford, do promise these men in the Armed Services that we shall do all that is in our power to see that their families and dependents are adequately provided for during the period of this war, and, at the victorious conclusion of this conflict we shall assist by every possible means for the rehabilitation of these men into these ways of civilion life in a democratic society.
