SUMMARY


The proposed measure provides that every former public employee, other than a judge, who is pensioned or retired for disability, shall report to his retirement authority, annually, his earnings from gainful occupation during the preceding year; and that, if such earnings, plus the pension, exceed the regular compensation of the position formerly held, the pensioner shall refund that portion of his pension equal to such excess or the entire pension if such excess is greater than the pension. A refund, if required, shall not include any part of a pension represented by salary deductions from or special purchase by the

Special Town meeting, Nov. 21, 1958


The voters of the Town of Boxford met at the Harry Lee Cole School at 8 p.m. with William J. Greenler, Jr., presiding as moderator. after a brief prayer by Rev. William O. Hoover, the following action was taken:


article 1. Vated unanimously to transfer from the Insurance account the sum of "250.00 to the Land Damage account to pay for the taking of land on Main St., the property of Your. & Mrs. John F. Baer.


article 2. Voted unanimously to amend the by-law to read: that the Finance Committee for the Town of Boxford be composed of five members to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for terms of five years and that the terms of each member be arranged by said Selectmen so that there shall be one appointment each year after this date. article 3. Voted unanimously to purchase for school purposes 3.43 acres of land adjoining the Morse School as shown on plan of land drawn by Clinton F. Goodwin, Reg. Prof. Engineer of Haverhill on May 19, 1958, for the Estate of Arthur A. & Zelie A. auger, and designated as Parcel D; also 1.5 acres more or less of meadow land adjoining the Morse School on the westerly vide, also owned by the auger Estate, for the sum of " 7000.00 to be appropriated from available funds,


Article 4 Voted to set up a committee to include a member of the Planning Board, a member of the Board of Selectmen, a member of the Board of Health and two local contractors, appointed by the Board of Selection, to investigate & report on matters pertan uning to the inspection, regulation, and Installation of plumbing, at the March town meeting

The annual town meeting of the Town of Boxford was held at the Harry Lee Cole School at 8 pm on March 2, 1959 with William & Greenler, Jr. presiding as moderator. after a prayer by Rev. Ellsworth D. Comins, Jr., business was transacted as follows by more than 200 voters :


Voted to accept the reports of the Town Officers and Committees as printed in the annual report.

Voted to accept the proposed budget as printed and $300.0 with the following changes : 800.00 for each ofor the two libraries was omitted, and the estimated figure of 700,00 increased to the actual cost of 724.25 for Town Reports.


Voted to appropriate the sum of 500.00 for the maintenance of Food Machinery, said amount to be transferred from the Road Machinery Fund.

Voted unanimously to enact the following by-law : all regular employees of the Town shall be granted paid sick leave at their regular rates of pay on the basis of work time at the rate of one day's pay for every twenty days of work during the twelve months immediately preceding. No such sick-leave pay shall be paid to any employee who has not worked 1000 hours in the twelve months immediately preceding. Paid sick leave shall not be granted unless the employee shall have been called to report for work, and the head of the department shall so certify, now, in case of more Than 3 consecutive days absence, unless a doctor's certificate of

The annual town meeting of the voters of Boxford was held at the Harry Lee Cole School at 8 PM with William J. Greenler, Ir presiding as moderator. after a moment of silent prayer, the following business was transacted by more than 300 voters present:


article 1.


Vated to accept the reports of the Town Officers and Committees as printed in the annual town report with the exception of the report on the disposition of the Marse House property. It was voted that the property be retained by the town and set permanent aside as a public park after a review of the historical background by Mrs. Charles Austin , Boxford's oldest Voted to adapt the suggested budget as printed with two exceptions: We're Inspector to be reduced from 850.00 to 750.00 , and Police to be reduced from 4700.00 to 4100.00

Voted that a committee be appointed to study the requirements and needs of the school building problem in the Town of oxford, said committee to be known as the School Building Committee, to be comprised of seven members, three of whom which shall the members of The School Committee, and the remaining four members to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen; the Committee to report to a town meeting not later than June 1, 1960


Voted that the sum of 5,000. 00 be raised and appropriated for the use of the School Building Committee to be used in the preliminary planning of school bulding needs and construction, and
