He that wounds can heal.
Sacred to the memory of CAPT. EZRA HARLOW, who died suddenly Oct. 27th 1840, aged 68 yrs.
Our loss is his gain, though the body lies mouldering beneath the sod, the Spirit has gone to God, there to re- ceive the reward of all his labours of love. he lived a life of self denial that he might releive the distress'd, though dead be lives forevermore O glorious hope, O bles'd abode, I shall be near and like my God, O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how un- searchable are his judgments ; and his ways past finding out !
I leave the world without a tear, Save for the friends I hold so dear, To heal her sorrow, Lord, descend, And to the friendless prove a friend. The sick, the pris'ner, poor and blind, And all the sons of grief, In him a benefactor found He loved to give relief.
Tis love that makes religion sweet Tis love that makes us rise With willing minds and ardent feet To yonder happy skies.
