(14) Isaiah Whit- comb, b. 1832; m., 1st, Mary Thompson, of Whitehall, N. Y .; m., 2nd, Lucia E. Barton, of Ludlow, Vt .; d. 1864.


Isaiah, the father, was a physician. He commenced practice in Harvard, Mass., 1772; he also preached, first as a Baptist, and afterwards as a Universalist; was a volunteer surgeon in the Revolution; published a political newspaper in Boston; rem. 1806, to Cavendish, Vt., where he spent the rest of his life, which reached almost to a century. Hed. 1848 aged 96. His children by the first marriage were born in Harvard. (Fletcher Genealogy, p. 501.)
