ARTICLE 2. The committee appointed April 3, 1899, under Article 5, to consider the purchase of a stone crush ing plant made a full report and on motion it was ac- cepted and adopted.
Unanimously voted, that the sum of $2,300.00 be bor- rowed and appropriated to be raised by tax in 1900 for the purchase of a stone crushing plant, as recommended by the committee, the said sum to be expended by the following named committee : Geo. F. Willett, Frank A. Fales, Fred H. Hartshorne, J. S. Cushing, John F. Cuff.
Water mains, Bond Street, $350.
ARTICLE 3. Unanimously voted, that the sum of $350.00 be appropriated from the treasury of the Water Commissioners for extension of water mains on Bond Street from end near Geo. H. Morrill, Jr.'s residence to a point near stable of Mrs. H. E. Plimpton, subject to usual guaranty.
Water mains, Central Street, $171.10.
ARTICLE 4. Unanimously voted, that the sum of $171.10 be appropriated from the treasury of the Water Commissioners for extension of water mains on Central Street, or for such proportionate part of said water mains as is laid on that part of said street that has been accepted by the town, subject to usual guaranty.
Water mains, Washington St. $400.
ARTICLE 5. Unanimously voted, that the sum of $400.00 be appropriated from the treasury of the Water Commissioners for extension of mains on Washington Street from end to the house of Philip McCartin, sub- ject to usual guaranty.
Water mains, Winter Street, $200.
ARTICLE 6. Unanimously voted that the sum of $200 be appropriated from the Water Commissioners' treasury for extension of water mains on Winter Street, from corner of Linden to a point near the Norwood Cen- tral Station, without the usual guaranty.
Repairs at East School- house, $3500.
ARTICLE 7. The committee appointed (under Article 18, April 3, 1899), to consider certain repairs on the East schoolhouse, made a report and showed plans. On motion voted that said report be accepted.
Unanimously voted, that the sum of $3,500 be bor-

rowed on notes of the town for the purpose of making repairs on the East school house, $1,750 of such sum to be paid from the taxes in the year 1900, and $1,750 in the year 1901. Voted that a committee of five be ap- pointed by the chair to make said repairs, and that the building be moved from its present location to a point nearer the street, and that said committee be instructed to have it completed by September 1, 1899. Committee appointed, viz. : Eben C. Norton, G. W. Cushing, N. L. Sheldon, J. F. McManus, Herbert Plimpton.

At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Election,"Nov. Norwood, in said County, qualified to vote on elections, 7,1899. holden in Village Hall, in said town, on Tuesday next after the first Monday in November, A. D. 1899, for the purpose of giving in their votes for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Attorney-Gen- eral, Councillor, Senator Second Norfolk District, Rep- resentative in General Court, County Commissioner, the meeting was called to order at 7 o'clock A. M., by the Town Clerk, who read the warrant in full, after which Fred L. Fisher, a member of the Board of Selectmen, presided.
The first set of 1,300 official ballots furnished by the State was delivered by the Town Clerk, sealed, to the Selectmen and receipt taken for same.
The following named Ballot Clerks appointed by the Selectmen, viz., Byron W. Mylod, John G. Hollings- worth, Eugene Murphy, John F. Halloran, were duly

qualified, the voting lists were delivered to them and the polls declared open.
The Selectmen appointed the following named as Tellers to assist in sorting and counting ballots : George H. Dexter, George O. Capen, Eben F. Gay, John F. Kiley, John F. Cnff, John J. Tobin, William J. Sullivan, Ed- ward W. Jewett, who were duly qualified.
At nine o'clock the ballot box was opened and ballots taken therefrom for the purpose of connting.
On motion the polls were closed at 4.15 o'clock P.M., the voting lists were compared and found to agree, show- ing that 739 names had been checked.
Upon the completion of the canvass and connting of ballots they were sealed and signed according to law, also the check lists, tally sheets and total tally sheets, and all delivered to the Town Clerk.
For some reason the ballot box did not register cor- rectly.

D. 1900, at seven o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles, namely :-
ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.
ARTICLE 2. To choose all necessary Town Officers. The following are to be chosen by ballot, namely : Three Selectmen, who shall be Assessors, Overseers of the Poor, and Surveyors of Highways, one Town Clerk, one Town Treasurer, one Collector of Taxes, three Auditors, three Park Commissioners, and six Constables, all for one year; one member of the Board of Health for three years, one Water Commissioner for three years, two School Committee for three years, and two Trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years; and also upon the same ballot to vote upon the question, " Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in the town ?" All Town Officers, except as above named, are to be chosen for one year.
