Slattery, subject $330.95. to the usual guaranty, when the avenue has been accepted by the town, and that $330.95 be appropriated from the Water Commissioners' treasury for this purpose.


Sewer Committee $250.


Article 37. Voted, that $250 be raised and appropriated for the expenses of the Committee on Sewers.


Street Lighting.


Article 39. Voted, that the town authorize the Selectmen to contract with the Norwood Gas Light Company for street lighting for a term of two years.


Public Dump.


Article 40. Voted, that the town authorize the Selectmen to designate, by publication in the town press, places which may be used, with proper restrictions, as public dumping grounds.


Street Signs $75.


Article 41. Voted, that $75 be raised and appropriated for street signs to be erected this year.


Neponset St. Bridge $750.


Article 44. Voted, that $750 be raised and appropriated for repairing or rebuilding Neponset Street bridge,


Hoyle Street $250.


Article 45. Voted, that $250 be raised and appropriated for grading Hoyle Street between Winslow Avenue and Washington Street.


Water Mains Sanders Road $448.48.


Article 46. Voted, that the water mains be extended on Sanders Road, subject to the usual guaranty, and that $448.48 be appropriated from the Water Commissioners' treasury for this purpose.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Norwood qualified to vote in elections and town affairs, to assemble in Village Hall, in said town, on Friday. the twelfth day of July, 1901, at twelve o'clock, noon, then and there to act on the following articles, namely :


Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meet- ing.


Article 2. To see if the town will vote to accept Chapter 311 of the Acts of the Legislature of the year 1901, entitled "An Act to authorize the Town of Norwood to construct a system of sewerage."


Article 3. To elect by ballot three Sewer Commissioners of the Town of Norwood, one Commissioner to hold office for one year, one for two years. and one for three years respectively, from the date of the next annual town meeting. and until his successor is elected and qualified.


Article 4. To see if the town will vote to instruct its Board of Sewer Commissioners to proceed with the con- struction of a sewerage system, and instruct and authorize them to make all necessary contracts therefor in the name and behalf of the town, subject to the approval of said sys- tem of sewerage by the State Board of Health.


Article 5. To see if the town will vote to issue any bonds, potes or serip, and fix the form, amounts, times of pay- ment, sinking fund, and rates of interest thereof and there- on, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 311 of the Acts of the Legislature of the year 1901, said issue of bonds, notes or scrip to be made subject to the approval of the plans for the system of sewerage by the State Board of Health.

Article 6. To see and determine what proportion of the cost of the sewerage system the town shall pay, and to de- termine the manner and method of assessment of the own- ers of estates benefited thereby, in accordance with the pro- visions of Chapter 311 of the Acts of 1901.


Article 7. To see if the town will determine and fix the compensation of the Clerk of the Board of Sewer Commis- sioners.


Article S. To see if the town will vote to accept of the widening of Hoyle Street, at the junction of Winslow Ave- nue, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate money to pay land damage.


Article 9. To see if the town will vote to accept of the extension of Rock Hill Avenue to Mylod Street, as laid out by the Selectmen.


Article 10. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate or borrow to widen and grade Washington Street between Nahatan and Market Streets, and to pay land damage, as ordered by the County Commis- sioners, or to take any other action in the matter.


Article 11. To see if the town will vote to raise and ap- propriate any money for the care of shade trees in addition to the sum voted at the annual meeting.


Article 12. To see if the town will vote to accept of a main drain or sewer leading from Walpole Street, over land of the heirs of J. Edward Everett, Florence Mahoney and others, to Snakeup Pond, so called, as laid out by the Se- lectmen, and raise and appropriate money for the same and to pay land damage.


Article 13. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate to drain the water from Nichols Street, near the house of William Fisher.


Article 14. To see if the town will vote to appoint a Com- mittee to buy a lot of land and to build a schoolhouse in the North School District, or in the northern section of the town, and to raise and apropriate or borrow money for that purpose, or to take any other action in the matter.

Article 15. To see if the town will vote to appoint a Committee to provide plans and estimates for a school building to be erected on the Everett School lot, and raise and appropriate or borrow money to pay the expense of providing said plans and estimates.

Article 2. To see if the town will vote to lay water mains on Curran Avenue fiom Prospect Avenue, about 180 feet, to the house of Nicholas Curran, and raise and appropriate money for the same, subject to the usual guaranty.


Article 3. To see if the town will vote to accept of the extension of Savin Avenue from Chapel Street over land of M. G. Smith, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate money to gravel the same.


Article 4. To see if the town will vote to lay water mains on Savin Avenue, about 800 feet, south from Chapel Street, when said avenue has been accepted by the town, and raise and appropriate or borrow money for the same, subject to the usual guaranty.


Article 5. To see if the town will vote to accept of a main drain leading from Lenox Street near Guild Street to the brook near the house of E. E. Elston-on Cross Street, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate money to build the same and to pay land damages, or to take any other action in the matter.


Article 6. To see it the town will raise and appropriate money to remove the shade trees and to grade the sidewalk between Hoyle Street and Douglass Avenue on Washington Street.

Voted, to accept of the main drain leading Main Drain from Lenox Street, near Guild Street, to the brook near Lenox Street Cross Street, as laid out by the Selectmen, and the sum of $400. $400 be appropriated and borrowed to be raised by tax in the year 1902, to build the same and to pay land damage.

At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Nor- Election Nov. wood, in said County, qualified to vote in elections, holden 5, 1901. at Village Hall, in said town, on Tuesday, November 5, A. D. 1901, for the purpose of giving in their votes for Gov- ernor, Lieutenant-Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Attorney-General, Councillor, Senator, Representative, One County Commissioner for three years, one County Commis- sioner to fill vacancy, two Associate Commissioners, Dis- trict Attorney, Clerk of Courts, Sheriff, meeting was caled to order at 7 o'clock A. M. by Fred L. Fisher, presiding officer.


The first set of 1,400 official ballots furnished by the State was delivered by the Town Clerk, sealed, to the Selectmen, and receipt taken for same. Cards of instruction, penalties

and specimen ballots were posted according to law, the bal- lot box opened and exposed to view and register set at zero.


The following named Ballot Clerks and Tellers appointed by the Selectmen, were duly qualified, viz .: John Hollings- worth, Frank M. Readel, Edward P. Tucker. John F. Hal- loran, Conrad Readel, John F. Keiley, Jos. Schuster, Geo. O. Capen, Michael J. Murphy, Frank W. Talbot, Harry Hol- ton, John J. Tobin, John J. Hovie, Geo. H. Dexter, Thomas F. Mahoney. The voting lists containing the name of 1,136 voters were delivered to the Ballot Clerks, and the polls were declared open.


At 8:30 o'clock the ballot box was opened and ballots taken therefrom for the purpose of counting.


On motion the polls were closed at 4:40 o'clock P. M. The ballot box registered 906. The voting lists were com- pared and found to agree, 913 having been checked. For some reason the ballot box did not register correctly.


Upon the completion of the canvas of ballots, they were sealed and signed according to law, also the tally sheets and voting lists and the same delivered to the Town Clerk.


Declaration was then made in open town meeting, with the following result: Whole number of votes cast, 913.
