REPORT OF THE SUPERVISOR OF JANITORS, BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
Following is a report of major repair work done in the school buildings.
E. R. A. and W. P. A.
Senior High School
1. Chemistry room refinished.
Junior High School
1. Repaired roof; stopped all leaks.
2. Scraped and refinished desks in twelve classrooms (480 desks).
3. Refinished 680 seats in seventeen classrooms.
4. Laid new floor in boys' wood shop.
5. Painted 220 steel folding chairs.
Balch School
1. Repaired roof.
2. Painted boiler room.
3. Painted corridor walls.
4. Painted heating units.
5. Painted dado in eight rooms.
6. Painted six coat rooms.
7. Painted upper walls in four rooms.
8. Painted wire window guards.
9. Painted playroom metal ceiling.
10. Painted nursery room.
11. Varnished woodwork in twenty rooms.
12. Painted stage and piano platform.
13. Installed two transom windows.
14. Built chair storage.
15. Repaired six doors and locks.
16. Refinished 240 chairs.
17. Covered one boiler.
18. Replaced goose-neck siphon valves in fifteen water boxes.
19. Replaced bells in nine rooms.
Shattuck School
1. New maple floors laid in two classrooms, nursery room and three coat rooms.
2. New cement gutter built for boys' side with dry well for drainage.
3. 200 new bushes set on west side of building.
4. Two new hand rails made for girls' and playground steps.
5. Weather stripped all north and west side windows.
6. Cleaned and repacked all valves in boiler room.
7. Put in new exit door for nursery room.
8. Installed four new base plugs and four lights.

10. Repaired flashing on roof.
11. Pointed brick above coping at roof.
Winslow School
1. Repaired roof.
2. Covered boilers and repaired all valves.
3. Complete change over in electrical wiring and bell system.
4. New floor laid in basement for nursery room.
5. New treads installed and new landings put in.
6. New shrubbery planted in front of building.
Regular Repairs
Shattuck School
1. The boiler tubes gave out and the inspector stated it would not pay to replace them, as the shells were too thin. The old boilers were replaced with a new one.
