ARTICLE 3. To hear and act upon the report of the Selectmen, School Committee, Overseers of the Poor, Treasurer, Engineers of Fire Department, Tax Collector, Trustees of Public Library, Trustees of Ver- non Grove Cemetery, and any other officers and committee of said Town.
ARTICLE 4. To raise and appropriate such sum or sums of money as may be necessary to defray Town expenses for the year ensuing.
ARTICLE 5. To see what action the Town will take in regard to the report of the Selectmen on lighting its streets.

ARTICLE 10. To see if the town will appoint the Selectmen to take charge and control of all legal proceedings in which the Town shall be interested.
ARTICLE 11. To see if the Town will grant the free use of Town Hall one night in eaclı week in the interest of temperance and labor.
ARTICLE 12. To see if the Town will widen Water strect to its orig- inal bounds, extend a sidewalk and appropriate moncy for the same.
ARTICLE 13. To see if the Town will build a sidewalk on the wester- ly side of Main street from Thayer strect to the Hopedale linc, and appro- priate moncy for the same.
ARTICLE 14. To see if the Town will case up the stairway and put in stcam lieat in the house at thic Poor Farm, and furnish fire extinguishers, and appropriate money for the same.
ARTICLE 15. To see if the Town will allow the Fire Department the usc of the Withcrell horses (so called) on the Hook & Ladder truck for fire purposes, or take any action in regard to same.
ARTICLE 16. To sce if the Town will locate an electric light at tlic corner of the Medway and Holliston roads, or take any action in relation to the same.
ARTICLE 17. To see if the Town will vote to build an additional stairway from the second to the third story of Memorial Building, appro- propriate money for the same, or take any action in regard to providing additional means of entrance and exit in case of public mectings or of fire.
ARTICLE 18. To sce if the Town will vote to grade East street and appropriate money for the same.
ARTICLE 19. To see if the Town will authorize the Board of Select- mnen to lay out and grade Central street from a point near clectric car station to a point at corner of stone wall about sixteen rods east of house now occupied by William C. Gillman, and appropriate money for the

same, or take any action in regard to widening and grading said portion of Central street.
ARTICLE 20. To see if the Town will accept Park street as now laid out, or take any action in regard to the same.
ARTICLE 21. To see if the Town will appoint an attorney to protect the interest of the Town in the mattter of the disposition of its sewage, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 22. To see if the Town will accept Baker's slip as a Town way as it is now laid out.
ARTICLE 23. To see if the Town will accept Taylor street as laid out by the Selectmen, and appropriate money for the same.
ARTICLE 24. To see if the Town will accept the gravel pit on Cedar street as laid out, and appropriate money for same.
And you are hereby directed to serve this Warrant by posting up at- tested copies thereof at each of the Public Meeting Houses and at the Post-Office in said Town; also cause an attested copy to be published in the Milford Daily News, Milford Daily Journal, Milford Gazette and Mil- ford Times, newspapers printed in said Town, two Sabbaths at least be- fore the time set for said meeting.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your do- ings thereon, to the Clerk of said Town, at the time of meeting aforesaid.

At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Milford, quali- fied by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, holden this, the Sixth day of March, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, at eight o'clock in the forenoon, the said inhabitants proceeded as follows :
The meeting was called to order by the Town Clerk, who then read the warrant.
ARTICLE 1. The meeting made choice of George B. Blake as moder- ator, the check list being used.
The Polls were opened at 8.45 A. M.
Voted : That the Polls be closed at 4.30 P. M.
S. C. Sumner and Wm. H. Pyne having been appointed Ballot Clerks by the Selectmen, were duly sworn by the Town Clerk.
P. M. Hunt and F. A. Shepard were appointed additional Ballot Clerks, and were duly sworn by the Moderator.
The Moderator appointed Wm. J. Welch, Thomas F. Waters, James J. Connors, F. P. Dillon, John A. Finnegan, T. H. Lynch, John J. Man- ning, Wm. Corbett, C. A. Sumner, Geo. W. Ellis, F. D. Field, Archie Boyd, A. W. Shedd, A. A. Jenkins, S. W. Heath and Walter Hartshorne as tellers, and they were duly sworn to faithfully perform the duties of their office, by the Town Clerk.
The Moderator appointed P. H. Curran to check the list at the polls, and he was duly sworn to faithfully perform the duties of his office by the Town Clerk.
Voted : That the Moderator appoint a committee of twenty-five (25) to act as a committee on appropriations.
The Moderator then appointed the following persons, viz: Wm. B. Hale, Geo. E. Stacy, C. L. Clark, Samuel F. Blodgett, George L. Cooke,

During the voting the ballot-box was opened by the unanimous con- sent of the Selectmen, Town Clerk and Tellers, for the purpose of taking out the ballots, and sorting and counting the same.
First at 9.30 A. M., when it registered 271. Then at 10.40 A. M., when it registered 602. Tlien at 11.45 A. M., when it registered 796. Then at 2.30 P. M., when it registered 1119. Then at 3.30 r. M., when it regis- tered 1165. And at the close of the polls at 4.30 P. M., when the ballot- box registered 1165.
From 11.45 A. M., the ballot-box failed to register, except occasion- ally.
Total number of votes cast, 2094, of which 5 were defective, and so marked. Males, 1774. Females, 320.

Voted : That when we adjourn, we adjourn until next Thursday even- ing at 7.30.

The meeting was called to order by Geo. B. Blake, Moderator, who then read the motion as passed at the March 6 meeting in regard to the adjournment.
Owing to the night being so stormy, Mr. Hale moved: To adjourn the meeting until Tuesday evening, March 14, at 7.30 o'clock, which was carried.

In accordance with Chapter 417, Section 211, Acts of 1893, the Mod- erator, Geo. B. Blake, and Town Clerk proceeded to recount the ballots cast at the March 6 election, under the question : "Shall license be grant- ed for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this Town? Yes or No?" and resulted as follows, which result was the same as originally declared at. the March 6 election, namely : Yes, 765. No, 791.
The ballots were then sealed up and endorsed by the Moderator and Town Clerk, and given in to the Town Clerk, as provided by law.

ARTICLE 3. Voted : To accept the reports of the Selectmen, Tax Collector, Assessors, Overseers of Poor, Engineers of Fire Department, Trustees of Public Library, Town Clerk, School Committee, Auditor, Park Commissioners, Board of Health, Trustees of Vernon Grove, Treas- urer.
Under this article, Mr. E. L. Wires made the following report :
The committee appointed at the last March meeting to confer with the School Committee regarding better school accommodations, has not completed the entire work for which it was created, and will require further time before making final report, or recommendations for the Town to consider. The Town and School Committee have united, and from this body a sub-committee has been appointed to look into and ascertain the best methods by which any needed changes or additions may be made with as little outlay as the nature of the case will warrant. When this sub-committee has made all necessary investigations and ob- tained all needed information, it will report to the joint committee; then your committee will make such recommendations, with probable costs, as it finds needful to the best interests of the Town.

Ist. We will continue the present contract for a term of 5 years, at the same price as at present.
2d. For service till 12 o'clock, midnight, every night, for a similar term, we will furnish the same, on a basis of not less than 50 lights, at the same price per lamp per year as we now furnish you.
3d. If in addition to either of the above arc lights propositions, it is desired to use incandescent street lights, we will furnish them in se- ries of 40, of 25 candle power, each at the same price as charged the town of Hopedale, namely, $22.50 for each light per year, contract for five years. Voted : That the Selectmen make a contract with the Milford Elec- tric Light and Power Company for one year, on the basis of their propo- sition.
ARTICLE 6. Voted : That the Treasurer is hereby authorized to bor- row money any time during the municipal year, in various amounts not exceeding Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) in all, and give the negotia- ble notes of the Town therefor, the same to be paid out of the taxes, assessed for the year 1893.
ARTICLE 7. Voted : That the taxes become due September 10, and' that all taxes paid on or before that time shall be discounted 216 per cent., and that one-half of one per cent. per month be added to all taxes not paid by September 10, and that the collector be authorized to use all means of collecting taxes which a Town Treasurer, when appointed col- lector, may use.
Voted : That the Collector be paid for collecting the first seven-tenths of the taxes committed to him, one-half of one per cent. For the next two-tenthis one per cent., and for the remaining one-tenth five per cent. of all taxes collected or abated.

ARTICLE 9. Voted: That a committee of eight (8) including the Selectmen and the three commissioned officers of Co. M, be appointed to look into the matter, and report at some future meeting. The Modera- tor appointed H. E. Fales and Z. C. Field on the committee.

John T. McLoughlin presented the following resolutions, which were adopted :
Resolved, That we, the Citizens of Milford, in annual town meeting assembled, recognizing the safe and efficient service rendered the inhab- itants of our town by the Milford and Hopedale Street Railway Company, do hereby indorse the Storage Battery system of propelling street railway cars, as a complete success, and recommend an investiga- tion of the merits of this system by other cities and towns desiring safe, sure and rapid means of transit.

MILFORD, Mass., May 1, 1893.
The inhabitants of the Town of Milford met in Memorial Hall on the above date, at which time Mrs. Hannah Peard, through Hon. John Reade of Charlestown, presented to the Town of Milford an elegant oil painting of her husband, Lt. Col. Robert Peard, of Co. H, 9th Regiment. (This painting to remain the property of the Town of Milford, and to hang in the Memorial Hall while the G. A. R. is in existence.)
James F. Stratton who, at a previous meeting, had been elected chairman, called the meeting to order, and introduced Mr. Reade to the citizens, who, in behalf of Mrs. Peard, presented the painting to the Town of Milford, which was accepted by Selectman M. E. Nelligan in behalf of the Town.

Commander Hooker of the G. A. R. made a few remarks, in which he accepted the portrait in behalf of the G. A. R., and thanked Mrs. Peard for the generous offering.

In the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town, qualified by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said Town, on Monday, the ninth day of October, A. D. 1893, punctually at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, to act upon the following articles, namely :
ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.
ARTICLE 2. To see what action the Town will take in relation to the payment of the Town Bonds ($40,000), and Town Note ($21,500) which become due on the first day of November next.

ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will appropriate such moneys as are in the Treasurer's hands, or which may be received by him during the present municipal year, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose. of defraying Town expenses.
ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will appropriate $300 for beautify- ing the corner of Main and Spruee streets, in accordance with a former vote of the Town.
And you are hereby directed to serve this Warrant by posting up at- tested copies thereof at each of the public Meeting Houses and at the Post-Office in said Town; also cause an attested eopy to be published in the Milford Daily Journal, Milford Daily News, Milford Gazette and Mil- ford Times, newspapers printed in said Town, two Sabbathis at least be- fore the time set for said meeting.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your do- ings thereon, to the Clerk of said Town, at the time of meeting aforesaid.
