In pursuance of the foregoing warrant, the inhabitants of the Town of Milford, qualified by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, met in the Town Hall, in said Town, on Monday, the ninth day of October, A. D. 1893, at two o'clock in the afternoon, and were called to order by the Town Clerk, who then read the warrant, and the officer's return thereon.
ARTICLE 1. The meeting made choice of George B. Blake as Moderator.
ARTICLE 2. Voted : That when the question is put it be with the "Yea" and "Nay" vote.
Voted : That the Treasurer, subject to the approval of the Seleetmen, be and hereby is authorized to give the notes of the Town, payable in lawful United States gold coin, to the amount of Fifty-seven Thousand Dollars, payable : Fifty-seven Hundred Dollars on Sept. 15, 1894, and $5700 on the 15th day of September of each and every year thereafter, until the whole sum of $57,000 is paid, with interest not exceeding five per cent. per annum, payable semi-annually.
The vote on the above question resulted as follows: Yea, 15; Nay, 4.
ARTICLE 3. Under this article Mr. Hale moved : That we appropriate $2175.32 for the Fire Department, $806.85 for the Incidentals, and $1000 for the Highway. This motion was put and lost.
Voted : To reconsider the motion whereby we voted not to appropri- ate $2175.32 for the Fire Department.

Greeting :
In the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town, qualified by law to vote

in Elections and in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Town, on TUESDAY, THE SEVENTH DAY OF NOVEMBER, A. D., 1893, it being the first Tuesday after the first Monday, punctually at eight o'clock in the forenoon, at which time the polls will be open for said voters to give in their ballots to the Selectmen of said Town for Governor, Lieuten- ant Governor, Councillor, (Seventh Councillor District,) Secretary, Treasurer and Receiver-General, Auditor, and Attorney-General of the Commonwealth; a Senator for the Second Worcester Senatorial District and two Representatives for the Eleventh Worcester District to the Gen- eral Court of Massachusetts; and one County Commissioner, and one Register of Probate for said County. Said voters will also give in their votes "Yes" or "No" for the following proposed amendment to the Con- stitution of Massachusetts : "Article of amendment to the Constitution relative to the payment of mileage to the members of the General Court." "So much of article two of section three of chapter one of the Constitution of the Commonwealth as is contained in the following words : "The expense of traveling to the General Assembly, and returning home, once in every session, and no more, shall be paid by the government, out of the public treasury, to every member who shall attend as seasonably as lie can, in the judgment of the House, and does not depart without leave,' is hereby annulled." The Polls may be closed at four o'clock in the afternoon on said day of meeting.
At 2 o'clock in the afternoon of the above mentioned seventh day of November, at the same place, there will be a meeting of the above described inhabitants to act upon the following articles, namely :--
ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.
ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will accept the list of jurors as reported by the Selectmen.
ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will appropriate $1000 for Highways and $1000 for Incidentals, or take any action in relation to the same.
ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote to rescind a vote whereby the Union Truant School at Lowell, Mass., was assigned as a place of confinement, discipline and instruction of minor children, and to assign the Truant School at Oakdale, Worcester County, Mass., as a place of confinement, discipline and instruction of minor children convicted under the provisions of Sections ten and twelve of Chapter 48 of the Public Statutes, and all acts in amendment thereof or in addition thereto.
ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will accept the location of the hy- drant on the so-called extension of Granite street.
And you are hereby directed to serve this warrant by posting up at- tested copies thereof at each of the public Meeting Houses and at the Post-Office in said Town; also cause an attested copy to be published in

In pursuance to the foregoing warrant the inhabitants of the Town of Milford qualified by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, met in the Town Hall, in said Town, on Tuesday, the seventh day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, and were called to order by the Town Clerk, who then read the warrant. and the officer's return thereon. In accordance with the provisions of

Chapter 413, of the Acts of 1889, and Chapter 436, of the Acts of 1890, the sealed package said to contain 2600 ballots, specimen ballots and instruc- tion cards, was delivered to Wm. B. Hale, the presiding election officer, and his receipt therefor given to the Town Clerk. The seal was then publicly broken, the package opened, and the blocks of ballots delivered to the ballot clerk, and one of each kind of "Cards of Instructions" post- ed in each voting compartment, and at least five specimen ballots and three of each of the cards of instructions were posted in the hall outside the rail. The ballot box required by law to be used in elections, was then opened in publie meeting, and shown to be empty, and examined by the election officers and found to be empty. The register of the box was then set at 0000, and the box locked and the keys thereof delivered to O. D. Holmes, constable in attendance at said meeting.
S. C. Summer and W. H. Pyne, appointed inspectors by the Select- men, acted as ballot clerks, and during their absence P. M. Hunt and C. A. Cook, deputy inspectors, acted in their stead, each of them hav- ing been sworn to faithfully perform the duties of their office by the Town Clerk.
Patrick H. Curran, who had been appointed by the Selectmen to check the list, was then duly sworn to faithfully perform the duty of his office, by the Town Clerk.
T. F. Waters, F. P. Dillon, R. H. Cochran, Jas. J. Connors, Wm. J. Welch, Thos. J. Connors, H. I. Carpenter, Lewis Hayden, C. A. Sumner, F. A. Shepard, Geo. W. Ellis, Archie Boyd, A. W. Shedd, H. C. Tilden, A. A. Jenkins and H. B. Spaulding, appointed Tellers by the Selectmen, were then sworn to faithfully perform their duties by the Town Clerk.
Wm. HI. Carey, who was appointed Teller in place of T. F. Waters, was then sworn to faithfully perform the duties of his office, by the Town Clerk.
The polls were opened at 8.05 A. M., for the reception of ballots.
Voted : To close the polls at 4.30 P. M.
Due notice having been given, the polls at 4.30 P. M. were declared closed.
At 2 o'clock in the afternoon on the above mentioned seventh day of November, at the same place, the above described inhabitants acted upon the articles in the warrant as follows :

The business of the meeting being accomplished, the returns were filled and signed by the Selectmen and countersigned by the Town Clerk, then sealed in open meeting and delivered to the Town Clerk, to be for- warded to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
The ballots cast and the list of voters used at the polls, and by the Ballot Clerks, were then sealed up and endorsed by the Selectmen and a majority of the Election officers. The ballots were then delivered into the custody of the Town Clerk, and the check lists were retained by the Selectmen, in conformity with laws in such cases made and provided.
