Parents and others are requested to carefully examine the above lists and if any errors or omissions are discovered report them at once to the town clerk, that the record may be corrected, as it is of importance that the records of Vital Sta- tistics should be complete. Herewith are extracts from the Revised Laws of Massachusetts, Vol. I., Chap. 29.


SECTION 3. Physicians and midwives shall on or before the fifth day of each month report to the clerk of each city or town a correct list of all children born therein during the pre- ceding month at whose birth they were present, stating the date and place of each birth, the name, if any, of the child, its sex and color, and the name, place of birth, and residence of the parents, the maiden name of the mother, and the occupa- tion of the father. If the child is illegitimate, the name of, and other facts relating to, the father shall not be stated, ex- cept at the request in writing of both father and mother, filed with the return. The fee of the physician or midwife shall be twenty-five cents for each birth so reported, which shall be paid by the city or town where the report is made, upon pre- sentation to the city or town treasurer of a certificate from the city or town clerk stating that said births have been properly reported to him. A physician or midwife who ne- glects to report such lists on or before the fifteenth day of the month shall for each offence forfeit not more than twenty-five dollars.


SECTION 6. Parents within forty days after the birth of a child, and every householder, within forty days after a birth in his house, shall cause notice thereof to be given to the clerk of the city or town in which such child is born.

COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS.

To either constable of the town of Milford, in said county,


Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said town, qualified by law to vote in elections and in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said town, on Monday, the second day of March, A. D., 1908, punctually at six o'clock in the forenoon, to act upon the following articles, namely :-


[The polls may be closed at four o'clock in the afternoon on said day of meeting.]


ARTICLE 1. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.


ARTICLE 2. To choose all necessary town officers for the year ensuing : A town clerk, town treasurer, tax collector, au- ditor, three selectmen, three assessors, (one for three years, one for two years and one for one year), three overseers of the poor, three sewer commissioners (one for three years, one for two years and one for one year), two members of the school committee (3 years), one member of the board of health, (3 years), two trustees of public library, (3 years), two trustees of Vernon Grove cemetery, (3 years), and five constables, to be voted for on ballots prepared and furnished in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 560, Acts of 1907, also upon said ballots the voters shall give in their votes, "Yes" or "No" in answer to the question, "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town?"


ARTICLE 3. To hear and act upon the reports of the select- men, school committee, overseers of the poor, treasurer, en- gineers of the fire department, tax collector, trustees of pub-

lic library, trustees of Vernon Grove cemetery, and any other officers and committees of said town.


ARTICLE 4. To raise and appropriate such sum or sums of money as may be necessary to defray town expenses for the year ensuing.


ARTICLE 5. To see what action the town will take in re- gard to lighting its streets, and appropriate money for the same.


ARTICLE 6. To see if the town will authorize the treas- urer to borrow money in anticipation of the taxes of the cur- rent year.


ARTICLE 7. To determine when all taxes shall be col- lected and paid into the treasury the year ensuing, and to fix the compensation of the collector of taxes for collecting the same.


ARTICLE 8. To see if the town will raise and appropriate one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) toward defraying the ex- penses of Memorial Day.


ARTICLE 9. To see if the town will authorize the select- men to take charge of all legal proceedings for or against the town.


ARTICLE 10. To see if the town will accept the list of jurors as reported by the selectmen.


ARTICLE 11. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000), to be used for manual training in our public schools, or to take any action in relation to the same.


ARTICLE 12. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of four hundred dollars ($400), for the purpose of constructing a sidewalk on Cedar street, beginning where the walk now ends, and continuing by cemeteries to Dilla street, or take any action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 13. To see if the town will vote to open up a right of way owned by the town from South Main street to the south-west corner of Vernon Grove cemetery, appropriate money therefor, or take any action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 14. To see if the town will vote to establish a hose wagon for fire duty in the Plains district (so called), . appropriate money therefor, or take any action in relation to the same.


ARTICLE 15. To see if the town will vote to keep the combination wagon, horses, and driver on permanent fire duty at headquarters, and appropriate the sum of five hun- dred dollars ($500) for the same.


ARTICLE 16. To see if the town will authorize the board of selectmen to place two new hydrants in the Plains district (so called), one at the west end of Genoa avenue, one at corner of Carroll street and Fairview road (so called), and to remove the hydrant now located opposite the old trotting park to the east end of Genoa avenue, and appropriate the sum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125) for the same.


ARTICLE 17. To see if the town will vote to authorize the fire engineers to locate a fire alarm box in the vicinity of the Milford Iron Foundry, appropriate money therefor, or take any action in relation to the same.


ARTICLE 18. To see if the town will vote to have all town work performed by tax payers of the town of Milford and by citizens of the town whenever possible.


ARTICLE 19. To see if the town will vote to allow the use of town hall one evening in each month for. the purposes of benefit to the interests of labor and temperance, providing the parties so using the town hall shall pay for the cost of lighting and heating the same.


ARTICLE 20. To see if the town will vote to accept and allow the report of the selectmen on the laying out of the ex- tension of Emmons street and Metcalf avenue (so called), raise and appropriate money for the same, or take any action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 21. To see if the town will vote to authorize the assessors to publish a list of real and personal estates, and the valuation thereon, appropriate money therefor, or take any action in relation to the same.


ARTICLE 22. To see if the town will vote to raise and

appropriate the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500) to complete the system of surface drainage on South Bow and Central streets, or take any action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 23. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) to be used as needed in the suppression of gypsy and brown-tail moths, or take any action in relation to the same.


And you are hereby directed to serve this warrant by posting up attested copies thereof at each of the public meet- ing houses and at the post-office in said town ; also cause an attested copy to be published in the Milford Daily Journal, a newspaper printed in said town, two Sabbaths at least before the time set for said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon, to the clerk of said town, at the time of meeting aforesaid.
