In pursuance of a vote passed at the annual town meet- ing March 2, 1908, the inhabitants of the town of Milford met in Town Hall and proceeded as follows :-
The meeting was called to order by Lowell E. Fales, moderator, at 8 o'clock, P. M.
The town clerk read the warrant and the officer's return thereon.
Under Article 2, the following officers were chosen for the year ensuing.
Park Commissioners-John H. Sheedy, Michael Mc- Keague, Charles W. Wilcox.

Article 4. The finance committee through James F. Stratton, secretary, submitted the following report.
The finance committee organized by electing Lucius E. Heath as chairman, and James F. Stratton as secretary. It was voted to make the following recommendations : That the selectmen keep a separate account of the sums of money spent on the different streets or sections of streets, and that the superintendent of streets keep a separate account and make a report for his department.
That the overseers of the poor be instructed, by vote of the town, to make a more complete itemized report to the citizens.
Voted : That we recommend that all departments close their books January 20th of each year.

Article 6. Voted : That the treasurer be, and is hereby authorized to borrow money at any time, during the munici- pal year, in various amounts not exceeding fifty thousand dollars, ($50,000.00) in all, and give the negotiable notes of the town therefor, payable within one year from the date of their incurrence, the same to be paid out of the taxes assessed for the year 1908.
Article 7. Voted : That all taxes for the year 1908, shall be due and payable Sept. 10th, 1908. A discount of two and one half per cent shall be allowed on all taxes paid voluntari- ly on or before Sept. 10, 1908. Interest at the rate of six per cent per annum shall be charged from Sept. 10th, 1908, on all taxes not paid on or before that date. The collector shall be paid one half of one per cent on the first seven tenths of the general tax collected or abated, one per cent on the next two tenths, and four per cent on the last one tenth.

Article 9. Voted : That the selectmen be authorized to take charge of all legal proceedings for or against the town.
Article 10. Voted : To accept the list of jurors as re- ported by the selectmen.

Article 12. Voted : To raise and appropriate the sum of four hundred dollars ($400.00) for the purpose of constructing a sidewalk on Cedar street, beginning where the walk now ends, and continuing by cemeteries to Dilla street.

Article 13. Voted: That the town open up the right of way owned by the town, from South Main street to the south- west corner of Vernon Grove cemetery, and put it in proper condition for a hearse, hack or any other vehicle to pass over safely, and raise and appropriate the sum of one hundred dol- lars ($100) for the same.

Article 14. Voted : That the selectmen and engineers of the fire department be instructed to place the supply wagon now at the Spruce street hose house, in the Plains district, and raise and appropriate the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) for the same.

Article 16. Voted : That the selectmen be authorized to place two new hydrants in the Plains district (so-called), one at the west end of Genoa avenue, one at the corner of Carroll street and Fairview Road, and to remove the hydrant now located opposite the old trotting park to the east end of Genoa avenue, and that the sum of one hundred and twenty- five dollars ($125.00) be raised and appropriated for the same. Article 18. Voted : That it is the sentiment of the citi- zens of Milford in town meeting assembled, that all town

work be performed by tax-payers of the town of Milford and by citizens of the town whenever possible.

Article 19. Voted: To allow the use of Town Hall one evening in each month for the purposes of benefit to the in- terests of labor and temperance providing the parties so using the Town Hall shall pay for the cost of lighting and heating the same.

Article 20. Voted: To accept and allow the report of the selectmen on the laying out of the extension of Emmons street and Metcalf avenue (so-called), and raise and appropri- ate seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750.00) for the same.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING, AUGUST 17, 1908.
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS.
Worcester ss.
To either constable of the town of Milford in said county,
Greeting :.
In the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said town, qualified by law to vote in elections and in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said town, on Monday, the seventeenth day of August, A. D. 1908, punctually at eight o'clock in the evening, to act upon the following articles, namely :-
ARTICLE 1. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.
ARTICLE 2. To see if the town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2500) for the purpose of paying for a stone-crusher plant purchased by the selectmen, or take any action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 3. To see if the town will vote to raise and ap-

propriate the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) for the pur- pose of installing a new boiler in Memorial Hall building, or take any action in relation to the same. *
ARTICLE 4. To see if the town will vote to fix the com- pensation of the sewer commissioners, raise and appropriate money therefor, or take any action in relation to the same.
ARTICLE 5. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of two thousand dollars ($2000) to be used by the overseers of the poor for the relief of the poor, or take any ac- tion in relation to the same.
ARTICLE 6. To see if the town will vote to authorize the board of sewer commissioners to make a contract with the town of Hopedale for the connection of any of its sewers with the sewerage system of the town of Milford, as per- mitted by the Acts of 1908, Chapter 281, or take any action in relation to the same.
ARTICLE 7. To see if the town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of three hundred dollars ($300) for the care of trees, shrubs and flowers, or take any action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 8. To see if the town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) or will authorize the town treasurer to issue notes or bonds to an amount not exceeding fifty thousand dollars ($50,000), at a rate of interest not exceeding 5 per cent per annum, payable semi-annually, for the purpose of completing and extending its system of sewerage and of paying its bonds which fall due on the first day of November in the present year, or take any action in relation to the borrowing of money for the foregoing purpose, or for any purpose relating to the completion or ex- tension to its system of sewerage.
ARTICLE 9. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of twelve hundred dollars ($1200) for the purpose of connecting the Spruce street schoolhouse with the sewer, and for the installation of new sanitary equipment.
ARTICLE 10. To see if the town will give the name of Granite square to that parcel of land lying easterly of the

Granite Block at the junction of Main and Spruce streets, or take any action in relation to the same.
ARTICLE 11. To see if the town will vote to accept and adopt the following resolution : Resolved, that it be the sense of this meeting that the assessors be allowed the usual com- pensation per diem for extra work in revising the listing of real estate.
And you are hereby directed to serve this warrant by posting up attested copies thereof at each of the public meet- ing houses and at the post-office in said town; also cause an attested copy to be published in the Milford Daily News, a newspaper printed in said town, two Sabbaths at least before the time set for said meeting.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the clerk of said town at the time of meeting aforesaid.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING, AUGUST 17, 1908. COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS.

Milford, August 17, 1908.
In pursuance of the foregoing warrant, the inhabitants of the town of Milford, qualified by law to vote in elections and in town affairs, met in Town Hall in said town, on Monday, the seventeenth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight, punctually at eight o'clock in the evening, aud were called to order by the town clerk, who then read the warrant and the officer's return thereon.
Article 1. The meeting made choice of John C. Lynch as moderator, the voting list being used. One ballot was cast, which was for John C. Lynch. The moderator was sworn to a faithful performance of his duties by the town clerk.
Article 2. Voted : To raise and appropriate the sum of twenty- five hundred dollars ($2500) for the purpose of paying for stone-crusher plant purchased by the selectmen.
Article 3. Voted : To raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) for the purpose of installing a new boiler in Memorial Hall building.
Article 4. Voted : To raise and appropriate the sum of six hundred and fifty dollars ($650) as compensation of the sewer commissioners, the chairman to receive two hundred and fifty dollars ($250) and the other members two hundred dollars ($200) each.
Article 5. Voted : To raise and appropriate the sum of

two thousand dollars ($2000) to be used by the overseers of the poor for the relief of the poor.
Article 6. Voted : That the sewer commissioners be au- thorized to make a contract with the town of Hopedale for the connection of any of its sewers with the sewerage system of the town of Milford as permitted by the Acts of 1908, Chap- ter 281.
