Your Assessors have labored under some disadvantage from the fact that none of them had had any previous experience in the duties and business required of them. We believe, however, that our records will show a strict adherence to the oath we took in the beginning.

Road Commissioners' Report.
The Road Commissioners herewith submit their annual report, and beg leave to state that the roads are somewhat improved over last year, but there still remains much work that ought to be done. This is especially true of the North and South County roads, a considerable outlay of money being necessary on the latter road between the house of Mr. Eveleth and Lee's Bridge, and for these and other necessary repairs, we shall ask for a liberal appropria- tion the coming year. These county roads ought to be fixed and placed in as good condition as those of adjoining towns, and to do this must have considerable money.
While we dislike to criticise the acts of many of our citizens, we deprecate the methods many have fallen into, of carelessly dumping rocks and rubbish on the side of the highways. The highways ought to be kept neat and cleanly, and we would respect- fully call attention to this matter that it may be remedied in the future. The straightening and widening of the road above the church cost much more than we expected and more than the ap- propriation, but we believe we have a good road and one that will last for many years, is the result.
The guide boards in some parts of the town are in a poor con- dition, many of which will have to be repainted and some replaced with new boards this year.
There has been expended for breaking out snow roads, $146.74 ; for general repairs, tools and gravel, $3,969.56 ; for straightening and widening road above the church, $1,505.52 ; making a total of $5,621.82. Below will be found a detailed statement of the pay- ments on account of Roads and Bridges.

Report of Water Commissioners.
The Water Board is able to report that the entire works are in excellent condition, and also is pleased to report an increased number of faucets. The purchase of two new hydrants, with other expenses for improvements, will enable us to pay only one hundred dollars of the Town loan.
The Board would respectfully recommend the town to purchase five hundred feet or more of hose for the protection of our public buildings. Respectfully submitted,
L. W. WESTON, Chairman.

AUDITOR'S REPORT.
Having examined the bills and vouchers presented to the sev- eral officers of the town for payment, and paid according to the foregoing reports, I find them correct as far as figures are con- cerned. Some bills, particularly road bills, should never have been paid in the form in which they were presented, but should have been returned for more definite description of items.
W. L. G. PEIRCE, Auditor.
REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
LINCOLN, February 6, 1892.
The Trustees of the Library present herewith the Report of its Treasurer, and the usual statistical report of its Librarian, which show the condition of the Library at the close of the year. A gift of seventy-five dollars from Ogden Codman, Esq., is grate- fully acknowledged.
Of the constant growth and increased usefulness of the Library, and of the comfort and pleasure derived by those using it, a glimpse at the reading-room on any Wednesday or Saturday will bear ample testimony.
