Article 8. Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $3,000.00 to pay the Water Works for the use of Hydrants and water.

Article 16. Voted: That the matter of revising the present town Building Code be referred to a committee of three to be appointed by the Moderator, with instructions to report its recommendations at the next Annual Town Meeting.
Article 17. Voted: That the Town appropriate the sum of $2,750.00 from the Post-War Rehabilitation Fund, to be used by the School Committee for the improvement of the toilets in the Center School.

Article 18. Voted: That the Moderator appoint a com- mittee of five to plan and carry out Memorial Day exercises on the 30th of May next and that the sum of $125.00 already appropriated for Memorial Day be granted to such committee for its use in connection with these exercises.
Article 19. Voted: That the sum of $200.00 be raised and appropriated for the printing and mailing of an official Town Bulletin and that a committee consisting of the Board of Selectmen, Mrs. Howard Snelling, Mrs. Charles Kubik and Mrs. Addison Cowles be appointed to edit the Bulletin.
Article 20. Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $2,500.00 to purchase, take by eminent domain or otherwise acquire land, as hereafter described, for a site for a new structure for the use of the Highway Department and other departments of the Town. Said land for a site being described as follows: Beginning at a stone bound in the north- easterly side line of Codman Road at land now or formerly of Louise A. Hatheway; Thence north 69° 01' 30" east by land now or formerly of Louise A. Voted: That the sum of $41,500.00 be raised and appropriated for the purpose of erecting a new structure to house the equipment of the highway department and that to meet the said appropriation the sum of $1,500.00 be raised in the tax levy of the current year, and that the treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $40,000.00 and to issue bonds or notes of the town therefor payable in accordance with the provisions of chapter 44 of the General Laws, so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than twenty years from the date of issue of the first bond or note, or at such earlier time as the treasurer and selectmen may determine, and that the Moderator be in- structed to appoint a Building Committee of three who shall have full power to enter into all necessary agreements or con- tracts to carry out the construction of the building.

Article 23. Voted: That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000.00 for the use of the School Building Com- mittee, such sum to be used for the making of additional or changed plans as they may deem fit.
Article 24. Voted: That the School Building Committee be and it is hereby authorized and directed to take such action as it may deem advisable on behalf of the Town to have the Legislature of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts amend the Act, now filed, authorizing the Town of Lincoln to borrow money for school purposes by striking out the words "five hundred and twenty-five" and substituting in place thereof the words "two hundred" so that said Act shall read as follows: "Section 1. For the purposes of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing a new school building in the Town of Lincoln, said town may borrow, from time to time within a period of five years from the passage of this act, such sums as may be necessary, not exceeding in the aggregate, two hun- dred thousand dollars, and may issue bonds or notes therefor which shall bear on their face the words, Lincoln School Build- ing Loan, Acts of 1948. Each authorized loan shall constitute a separate loan, and such loans shall be paid in not more than twenty years from their dates. Indebtedness incurred under this act shall be in excess of the statutory limit, but shall, except as provided herein be subject to Chapter forty-four of the General Laws, exclusive of the limitation contained in the first paragraph of section seven thereof. Section 2. This act shall effect upon its passage," and pass said Act as so amended or with such other amendments as may be necessary but which shall not materially change the substance thereof. ADJOURNED TOWN MEETING April 26, 1948
The Meeting was called to order by the Moderator at 7:35 P.M.
Article 26. Voted: To pass over.
Article 27. A motion that the Town make the following revisions and additions to the Zoning By-Laws; Strike out the second paragraph of Section 12 beginning with the words "every such lot shall have" and substituting the following as the second paragraph of Section 12: Every such lot shall have at least an eighty (80) foot frontage along a line of way, a width of at least eighty (80) feet at its narrowest point between said line of way and any dwelling erected on said lot, and a width of at least one hundred twenty (120) feet at its narrowest point through such dwelling, was lost. Article 5. Voted: That $200.00 be raised and appropriated for the services of an expert to appraise the value of the Town Buildings, and that $300.00 be raised and appropriated for a premium to cover the increased insurance due to the recent appraisal.
At this point it was voted to take up Article 25 for recon- sideration.
Article 25. Voted: That the Committee appointed pur- suant to prior vote under this Article 25 be directed in addition to duties previously imposed on it, to obtain and report to the Town a professional estimate of the cost of supplying on the Center School Grounds school house facilities camparable to those on which the Committee reports under the prior vote, that an additional $750.00 be raised and appropriated for the general use of the Committee under this and the prior vote and

that the Committee be directed to report at a meeting to be called as soon as practicable after its report is ready but not later than June 15, 1948.
The following resolution was unanimously adopted.
Resolved: That it is the sense of this meeting that the Selectmen through an appointed committee proceed to in- vestigate the possibilities of a Union High School with the Town of Weston and report at the next town meeting.
Article 28. Resolved: (Unanimously) By the People of Lincoln, Massachusetts, in Town Meeting assembled, that they call upon their representatives in the Congress, in the Executive Department of the United States and in the United Nations, to take such steps as may be necessary to have our delegates to the United Nations present or support amend- ment of the Charter for the purpose of making United Nations into a limited world government capable of enacting, inter- preting, and enforcing world law to prevent war.
Be it further resolved: That a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to both Senators from Massachusetts, the Con- gressman from the 5th Congressional District, the President of the United States, the Secretary of State and the United States representatives in the United Nations.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify the legal voters of said Town of Lincoln, qualified to vote in Town Meeting for the transaction of Town affairs to meet in the Town Hall in said Lincoln on Wednesday, the second day of June next at 7:30 o'clock p.m., then and there to act on the following Articles, by posting a copy of this Warrant, by you attested in each of the Post Offices and in some other public place in said Town seven days at least before the second day of June next:
Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of $1,500.00 for the widening and grading of Mill Street, or take any other action relative thereto.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate a sum of money to cover the cost of the extra Town Meetings, or take any other action relative thereto.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate an additional sum of money to that appropriated at the last Annual Town Meeting, for the purchase of land from the heirs of Owen Martin for a site for the new Town Highway Department Building, said additional sum being necessary to meet the price asked for said land, or take any other action relative thereto.

Article 4. To see if the Town will request the County Commissioners to lay out Weston Road with a general width of forty feet, or take any action on the question.
Article 5. To see if the Town will appropriate from the DeCordova School Equipment Fund the amount of $12,300.00 to be used by the school committee for the purchase of school furniture and equipment.
Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate from taxation, borrowing, available funds, or any com- bination of these, a sufficient sum of money to erect and equip an elementary school plant and provide such facilities and appurtances as may be necessary for such plant, or take any action relative thereto.
Hereof fail not and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk at or before the time for the meeting aforesaid.
Given under our hands this twenty-fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty-eight.
