At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Scituate, qual- ified to vote in town affairs, held at the Town Hall, on Monday, March 4th, A. D. 1878 :
VOTED-To raise and appropriate the sum of one hundred ($100) dollars, to be expended under the direction of Post No. 31, G. A. R., on Decoration day.
VOTED - To raise and appropriate the following sums of money for the year ensuing :

VOTED - That three fourths of the amount appropriated for the repairs of roads and bridges shall be expended before June 10th, 1878.
VOTED - That two hundred and fifty ($250) dollars of the above appropriation shall be reserved by the selectmen, to be divided among the several surveyors, to be expended by them upon sidewalks.
VOTED - To instruct the selectmen to cause limbs of trees, &c., to be cut off, where they in any way obstruct the travel on the highway.
VOTED -To pay twenty-five (25c.) cents per hour for removing snow.
VOTED - To authorize the overseers of the poor to contract at their discretion for the support of the town paupers.
VOTED - To put out at auction the keeping of tramps for the year ensuing. Isaiah Hyland made the bid of thirty (30c.) cents each, and it was granted him. The provision to be the same as last year.
VOTED - To authorize the treasurer to borrow money, under the direction of the selectmen, in anticipation of taxes.
VOTED - To instruct the selectmen to publish the financial affairs of the town in the month of February. next.
VOTED - To raise and appropriate one hundred and fifty ($150) dollars, to be expended under the direction of the selectmen, on the highway, as ordered by the county commissioners, on petition of Russell Cooke and others.

VOTED - To raise and appropriate one hundred ($100) dollars, to be expended under the direction of the selectmen, on the highway, as ordered by the county commissioners, on petition of John Turner, 2d, and others.
VOTED - That the improvements on Pond street, (for which the sum of three hundred ($300) dollars has been appropriated), be referred to the selectmen.
VOTED - That the completion of Mann Hill road, (for which the sum of four hundred ($400) dollars has been appropriated), be referred to the selectmen.
VOTED -That J. O. Cole, Edwin Young and Henry Merritt be con- tinued as committee on beaches and shore property, with all the powers heretofore given them to act for the inhabitants of the town.
VOTED - To allow the same discount on taxes, paid on or before October first, as last year.
