ARTICLES IN WARRANT


FOR TOWN MEETING, MARCH 3, 1879.


ART. 1. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.


ART. 2. To hear the report of the selectmen and other town officers, and act thereon.


ART. 3. To choose all necessary town officers for the year ensuing.


ART. 4. To raise such sums of money, as may be necessary to defray the expenses of the town for the ensuing year, and appropriate the same.


ART. 5. To establish the rate of wages for removing snow from the public highways the year ensuing.


ART. 6. To revise and accept the list of jurors as prepared by the selectmen.


ART. To see if the town will authorize the overseers of the poor to contract, at their discretion, for the sup- port of the town paupers.


ART. 8. To see if the town will authorize their treasurer to borrow money, under the direction of the select- men, in anticipation of taxes.


ART. 9. Will the town cause a statement of their financial affairs to be published in the month of February next. ART, 10. To hear the report of any committee heretofore chosen, and act thereon.

ART. 12. What action will the town take in relation to keeping tramps.


ART. 13. To hear the report of the selectmen, on the petition of Wm. O. Clapp and others, to widen and straighten Cedar street, or act on anything relating thereto.


ART. 14. To hear the report of the selectmen, on the petition of Everett Torrey, and others, to widen and straighten the road leading from Everett Torrey's dwelling house to Kent street, or act on anything relating thereto.


ART. 15. To see if the town will finish the improvements on South Main street, as ordered by the county com- missioners, or act thereon.


ART. 16. Will the town permit the Mount Hope Cemetery Association, to buy not exceeding two acres of land for the enlargement of their burial ground.


ART. 17. Will the town abolish the high school or act on anything relating thereto.


ART. 18. To see what action, if any, the town will take with regard to its beaches and shore property, and its rights in the same, and the use and leasing of the same or any part thereof.


ART. 19. To see what action the town will take with regard to its public landings.


ART. 20. To see what action the town will take with regard to the old way leading from Scituate harbor to Cedar point.


ART. 21. To see what action the town will take with regard to raising and appropriating money to maintain the rights of the town in its beaches.


ART. 22. To see if the town will allow a discount on taxes, paid on or before the first day of October, or act thereon.


ART. 23. Will the town appoint some proper person for a night police at the easterly part of the town, for the summer months.
