OLD BURIAL GROUND.
North Scituate, Jan. 8, 1906. To the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen of Scituate:
My Dear Sir-In addition to having the burial-ground in Meeting-house Lane mowed twice during the season, it seemed necessary this year to have a number of the old headstones reset, and they now look even and regular. It was done with small expense, and will not need to be done again for several years. A suggestion was made to the Tree Warden of the Town that he should look after the row of elm trees planted a few years ago on the road ad- joining the burial-ground, and which need some encourage- ment to become the ornament to the street that they were intended to be; but so far nothing has been done for them.
Respectfully submitted,
ELLA BATES, Supt. Burial Ground.

FIRE ENGINEERS' REPORT.
Scituate, Jan. 1, 1905.
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen :
Gentlemen :- In accordance with your instructions, the Board of Engineers met at the Town Hall Friday evening, May 5th, 1905, and organized as follows :
Chief, Alfred A. Seaverns; Clerk, Charles F. Clapp; District Chiefs, Joseph A. Ward, Charles F. Clapp, John B. Damon, John F. Turner.
In October, 1905. District Chief Charles F. Clapp re- signed, and Frank W. Litchfield was appointed to fill the vacancy.
The fire apparatus of the Town is composed as follows : Hose No. 1. Combination Wagon, Hose No. 2, Hose Car- riage, Hose No. 3, Hose reel, Hose No. 4, Hose reel.
There are sixty (60) regular members and twelve (12) call members, comprising the four (4) companies.
The service rendered by the Fire Department the past year is sufficient proof of their ability to fight fire success- fully, as the amount of adjoining property endangered and would have been destroyed, had it not been for the prompt and persistent work of the department, was many times greater than the cost of the department since its or- ganization.
