Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate or transfer from available funds in the Treasury, a sum of money for Chapter 90 New Construction, or take any action relative thereto.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of $100.00 for the use of Plymouth County Trustees for County Aid to Agriculture (Plymouth County Extension Ser- vice) and choose a Town Director as provided in Sections 41 and 42 of Revised Chapter 128 of the General Laws, and act thereon.
Moved: that the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) be raised and appropriated for the use of the Plymouth County Trus- tees for County Aid to Agriculture (Plymouth County Extension Service), and that Clifford Carlson be appointed as Town Director as provided in Sections 41 and 42 of revised Chapter 128 of the General Laws.

Moved: that the Board of Selectmen be authorized to pur- chase a new car for the Police Department, and to transfer, deliver and expend the present police car therefor; and raise and appro- priate the sum of $800.00 for the balance of the purchase price and transferring equipment from the old car to the new.

Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate or transfer from available funds in the Treasury, a sum of money for Contributory Retirement.

To see if the Town will vote for the Moderator to appoint a committee of three to investigate the possibilities of securing for the Town the part-time services of a sanitarian in order to meet the health needs of our growing population in regard to keeping milk standards high, and checking on public and private water supplies, public eating places, school cafeterias, food handlers, tourist homes and cabins, rooming houses, convalescent homes, day nurseries, trailer camps, schools and public buildings, sewage dis- posal, town dumps, and the like; this committee to report its find- ings and recommendations at a future town meeting.

Shukis, a teacher on leave of absence from the schools; six hundred thirty-three dollars and ten cents of this amount for salary from September to Decem- ber, inclusive in 1954, and the balance for the salary to be paid from January 1 to December 31, inclusive, in 1955, as provided by Section 55B of Chapter 71 of the General Laws as amended.
Moved: that the sum of $4,183.10 be raised and appropriated to pay for the salary of Sarah B. Shukis, a teacher on leave of ab- sence from the schools; $633.10 of this amount for salary from Sep- tember to December, inclusive, in 1954, and the balance for salary to be paid from January 1 to December 31, inclusive, in 1955, as provided by Section 55B of Chapter 71 of the General Laws, as amended.

Annual Town Election
March 19, 1955
A Meeting of which the inhabitants of West Bridgewater, qualified to vote in election were duly warned, was held in Town Hall, on Saturday, March 19, 1955 at nine o'clock in the forenoon and the following is a record of the doings.
The meeting was called to order by the Warden, John E. Seager: motion was made to dispense with the reading of the war- rant and proceed with the voting. Polls were declared opened for voting.
The ballot box was inspected by the Police officer in charge and found to be empty. The register was set at zero. 1500 Ballots were delivered by the Town Clerk to the Warden and receipt given for same.

The election officers were then sworn in by the Town Clerk to the faithful performance of their duties and were: Lulu Gardner, Anna O'Shaughnessy, Anna Peterson, Loretta Burque, William R. Brown, Marjorie MacDonald, Helen Ross, Dorothy Williams, Rose Douglas, Emma Marzelli, Ernest Pratt.
At 8:00 P.M. the polls were declared closed. 428 ballots were cast. The Town Clerk announced the following Results at the close of the Polls.

Special Town Meeting
Tuesday, July 12, 1955
A meeting of which the inhabitants of West Bridgewater, qualified to vote in election were duly warned, was called to order at 7:45 P.M. by the Moderator, John Eldridge. The Warrant was read by the Town Clerk. There were 209 voters checked by the Board of Registrars.
The following articles were acted on:
Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to accept Norman Ave.

Moved: that the Town vote to accept Norman Avenue, as laid out in Plan filed at Registry of Deeds, Plymouth.
Upon vote motion carried.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of $2,000.00 to paint the outside of the Town Hall or take any other action relative thereto.
Moved: that the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $2,000 to paint the outside of the Town Hall, and to meet the said appropriation, the sum of $2,000.00 be transferred from available funds in the Treasury.

Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to grant easements in connection with the Federal Watershed Survey on land owned by the Town in the vicinity of the Town and Hockomock Rivers.
Moved: that the Board of Selectmen be, and they hereby are, authorized, directed and empowered, for and in behalf of the Town, (1) to grant by written instrument, from time to time, to Norman W. Estabrooks, Layton Hayward, Clinton Howard and Herbert Holmes, as trustees for the Town River Watershed Associ- ation, its successors and assigns, such licenses and/or easements as the Selectmen may deem proper, to enter upon any and all lands owned by the Town and lying upstream from High Street Dam and within one hundred (100) feet on either side of the center line of the present Town River or its tributaries, for the purpose of there constructing and maintaining such works or improvements, as may be necessary to eliminate damage by water to farm lands and other property along the said river or any of its tributaries; and (2) for the purpose aforesaid to sign, seal, acknowledge and deliver, such docu- ments and writings as they may deem necessary, convenient or advisable.
