The ballots cast in all precincts were delivered to the Town Clerk in sealed packages, as were the unused ballots. The voting lists used at the entrances of the polling places and at the ballot boxes, with tally sheets and copy of precinct record of election, were also re- turned, all properly sealed in conformity with the laws governing elections.

Pursuant to law the Assistant Town Clerk, Helen C. Whittemore, of Lexington and the Town Clerk of Arlington met in the office of the Town Clerk of Arling- ton on Friday, the fourteenth day of November, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, at 12 o'clock noon, for the purpose of canvassing the votes cast on the fourth day of November for two repre- sentatives to the General Court of the Commonwealth, to represent the Twenty-eighth Middlesex District.
The canvass showed the following result of the votes cast in Arlington and Lexington.

REPORT OF FINANCE COMMITTEE OF TWENTY-ONE
The Finance Committee of Twenty-one submits the following report in two parts :
1. Final report of the 1929-30 committee.
2. Partial report of the 1930-31 committee.
1. The committee of 1929-30 began the customary consideration of the 1930 departmental budgets early in January, and of all articles of the Warrant for the 1930 Annual Town Meeting-and made definite recom- mendations on all matters that come within the scope of its activities as specified in the Town By-laws and State regulations.
The work of the Finance Committee of 1929-30 was handled by the customary sub-committees on
1. Schools and Libraries.
2. Departments of Selectmen.
3. Public Works and Parks.
4. Joint Board and New Streets.
During the year 1929-30 fourteen meetings were held with a maximum attendance of twenty members, a minimum attendance of thirteen members and an average attendance of sixteen and five-sevenths mem- bers.

2. The committee of 1930-31 has held to date four- teen meetings, giving consideration to all matters (ex- cept zoning) in the warrants for special and regular Town Meetings, and transferred various amounts from the $15,000 reserve fund as provided in the Town By- laws and State regulations.
