James C. Carr, stenographer, was sworn by the Town Clerk to impartially and correctly report the proceedings of the meeting to the best of his ability.


The Moderator called the meeting to order at 8:11 P. M. declaring that more than the necessary 136 Town Meeting Members being present a quorum existed.


The Town Clerk read the call and the Constable's re- turn of the Warrant.


The Moderator declaring that the meeting was duly and legally assembled requested any Town Meeting Mem- bers who had not already been sworn to arise.


These Town Meeting Members were sworn to the faithful performance of their duties by the Moderator.


On motion of Arthur P. Wyman, Article 1 was taken up.

Article 2 taken up. (Public Welfare; Aid-Aged Citi- zens Assistance. Soldiers' Relief.)


VOTED: (Unanimously) That the additional sum of twelve thousand ($12,000) dollars be and hereby is ap- propriated for the Public Welfare Department to be ex- pended for Aid; and that the said sum be taken from un- appropriated free cash in the Treasury and expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.


VOTED: (Unanimously) That the additional sum of two thousand ($2,000) dollars be and hereby is appropri- ated for the Public Welfare Department to be expended for Aged Citizens Assistance; and that the said sum be taken from unappropriated free cash in the Treasury and expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.


VOTED: (Unanimously) That the additional sum of five thousand ($5,000) dollars be and hereby is appropri- ated for Soldiers' Relief, Burials and Exemptions; and that the said sum be taken from unappropriated free cash in the treasury and expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.


TREASURER : Interest.


VOTED: (Unanimously) That the additional sum of fourteen thousand sixty-one and 16/100 ($14,061.16) dol- lars be and hereby is appropriated for the payment of Interest; and that the said sum be taken from unapprop-

riated free cash in the Treasury and expended under the direction of the Town Treasurer.


RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT: Tools, Equipment and Materials.


VOTED: (Unanimously) That the sum of sixteen thousand $16,000) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the purchase of the tools, equipment and materials necessary to enable the Town to become eligible to insti- tute and carry on certain public works and improvements for which the Federal Government may provide the money for the labor necessary in connection therewith under the Federal Civil Works Administration; that for this purpose the sum of eleven thousand ($11,000) dollars be taken from the unexpended amount of the appropria- tion made for Legal Expenses at this year's Annual Town Meeting and the balance five thousand ($5,000) dollars be taken from the unexpended amount of the appropriation made for the Construction of Ways at this year's Annual Town Meeting; and that the said appropriation of sixteen thousand ($16,000) dollars be expended under the direc- tion of the Board of Selectmen.


Article 3 taken up. (Treasurer; Borrowing.)


VOTED: (Unanimously) That the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen be and hereby is auth- orized to borrow on behalf of the Town, money from the Commonwealth for ordinary maintenance expenses in ac- cordance with Section 2 of Chapter 49 of the Acts of 1933.


On motion of Harold Estabrook Article 1 was taken from the table.


There being no further business under Article 1 the Moderator declared Article 1 disposed of.

(a) If a voter desires to permit the sale of any and all alcoholic beverages in this town, he will vote "YES" on both questions.


(b) If he desires to permit the sale of wines and malt beverages only herein, he will vote "NO" on question 1 and "YES" on question 2.


(c) If he desires to prohibit the sale of any and all alcoholic beverages herein, he will vote "NO" on both questions.
