Article 42. To see if the Town of Arlington will provide suitable quarters for use of Arlington Chapter, No. 49, Disabled American Veterans of the World War, which quarters shall be under the direction and control of said chapter, subject to regulations of the town; or if the Town of Arlington will ap- propriate the sum of four hundred and fifty (450) dollars or any other amount, to be used for the rental of appropriate quarters for said chapter, said sum to be raised by General Tax.

Article 43. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of eleven thousand eight hundred seventy-five and 75/100 (11, 875.75) dollars, or any other sum, for the erection of a build- ing to be used as a public bath house upon land of the Town adjoining the beach at the Reservoir at Arlington Heights and for the requisite furniture, fittings and conveniences ; will es- tablish rates for the use of such bath houses; appoint officers therefor; make by-laws for the government of such officers; authorize them to make regulations for the management there- of; determine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended; or take any action relating to all or any of the foregoing.

Article 44. To see if the Town will amend its By-laws by striking out Section 1 of Article 8 relating to the Finance Com- mittee and inserting in place thereof, the following:

"Section 1. The advisory committee to be called the Fi- nance Committee, shall be composed of fourteen registered voters of the town, one from each of the fourteen precincts, and, except as hereinafter provided, shall be appointed promptly by the Moderator in not less than forty days after the date of the annual election, from nominations submitted to him by the town meeting members in the several precincts. In every pre- cinct, the town meeting members from that precinct shall, be- fore the expiration of forty days after the date of the annual election submit to the Moderator the name of one voter of the precinct for appointment to said committee. Such name shall be chosen by written or printed ballot at a regular meeting of such town meeting members or at a special meeting thereof called for the purpose by their chairman, by the Town Clerk, or in such other manner as such members shall determine; shall be so chosen from names presented by a nominating com- mittee and/or by any such member; and shall be the name of the person receiving the largest number of votes.

Article 45. To see if the Town will provide, by By-law or otherwise, that barber shops in the Town of Arlington be kept open only during the following hours:
1. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the work- ing hours shall be from 8.00 a. m. to 7.00 p. m.
2. On Wednesday, the working hours shall be from 8.00 a. m. to 1.00 p. m.
3. On Saturday, the working hours shall be from 8.00 a. m. to 8.00 p. m.
or take any action relative thereto.

By virtue of this warrant I have notified and warned the legal voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the times and places and for the purposes herein named by causing a printed attested copy of the same to be left at every dwelling house in the Town, and by posting an attested copy at the doors of the Town Hall seven days at least before said day of meeting and by posting attested copies in two or more con- spicuous places in each voting precinct in the Town. A notice of the time, places and objects of the meetings was published in the local papers.

In pursuance of the foregoing Warrant the legal voters of the Town of Arlington met in their respective voting places in said Town on Monday, the seventh day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirty-eight at seven o'clock in the forenoon.
The following places were designated as the voting places for the various precincts.

The necessary ballots prepared for each precinct and all other paraphernalia for the proper conduct of the election was supplied by the Town Clerk and turned over to the officers of the various precincts.
The polls were declared open in each precinct at seven o'clock in the morning and remained open until eight o'clock in the evening at which time, after due notice, they were de- clared closed.
The ballots were counted by the election officers and en- cased in boxes, which were locked and sealed, and the same were delivered by direction of the Town Clerk to the Police Station where they were to be placed under police guard until after the expiration of the time within which a petition for recount might be filed.
The returns and keys to ballot boxes from each precinct were turned over to the Town Clerk and with the assistance of the Registrars of Voters the returns were canvassed and the result announced.
