ADJOURNED TOWN MEETING


March 23, 193S.


Pursuant to the vote of adjournment of March 15, 1938, the Town Meeting Members met in the Town Hall on Wednes- day evening, March 23, 1938, notices having been sent to the Town Meeting Members, and also posted in each of the pre- cinct boxes in the Town.


Lists of the duly qualified Town Meeting Members were used at the entrances of the meeting place and were in charge of Philip T. Robinson and James E. Sweeney.


The check lists filed with the Town Clerk at the close of the meeting showed that two hundred and four members at- tended the meeting.


The Moderator called the meeting to order at 8:05 P. M.


Town Meeting Members not previously sworn were sworn by the Moderator.


Mr. Marsh, Mr. Gordon and Mr. White were permitted to sit with Chairman Lowe of the Board of Selectmen.


On motion of Mr. Lowe, duly seconded, it was unani- mously


Voted: That if all the business of the meeting as set forth in the Warrant is not disposed of at this session, when the meeting adjourns, it adjourn to Wednesday evening, March 30, 1938, at 8:00 o'clock.

Article 6. Collector of Taxes; Means of Collecting.


On motion duly made and seconded it was unanimously


Voted: That the Collector of Taxes be and hereby is auth- orized to use all means of collecting taxes for the year 1938, which a town treasurer may use when appointed a collector of taxes.


There being no further business under Article 6, the Mod- erator declared Article 6 disposed of.


Article 7. Extension of Sewerage System.


Mr. Davis offered the following substitute motion.


That the sum of twenty thousand ($20,000) dollars be and hereby is approriated for the extension of the sewerage sys- tem; that of said sum, for the construction of sewers the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of five thousand (5000) dol- lars and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, said bonds or notes to be payable in accordance with Section 19 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws and all acts in addition there- to or amendment thereof so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than ten (10) years from the date of issue of the first bond or note, or at such earlier date as the Treasurer and

Selectmen may determine; that the balance, fifteen thousand (15,000) dollars, be raised by general tax and expended sub- stantially as follows: Extension of sewers, fourteen thousand (14,000) dollars; resurfacing, two hundred (200) dollars; tools and equipment, eight hundred (800) dollars; and that said sum of twenty thousand (20,000) dollars be expended under the direction of the Board of Public Works.


And on being put to vote the Moderator declared the mo- tion lost.

Voted : That the laying out of a town way from Summer Street to Mystic Street, substantially in the location of the private way known as Brookdale Road, as more particularly described in Article 16 of the Warrant, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, as made and filed in the office of the Town Clerk by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, be accepted, said way established and said Joint Board authorized to take land for the purpose of said way.

Voted: That the laying out of a town way from Massa- chusetts Avenue to Paul Revere Road, substantially in the lo- cation of the private way known as Davis Road, as more par- ticularly described in Article 17 of the Warrant, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, as made and filed in the office of the Town Clerk by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, be not accepted.


There being no further business under Article 17, the Moderator declared Article 17 disposed of.

Article 18. Laying out of Park Avenue Extension.


On motion duly made and seconded it was unanimously


Voted: That the laying out of a town way from Summer Street to Forest Street, substantially in the location of the private way known as Park Avenue Extension, as more par- ticularly described in Article 18 of the Warrant, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, as made and filed in the office of the Town Clerk by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, be accepted, said way established and said Joint Board authorized to take land for the purpose of said way.


There being no further business under Article 18, the Mod- erator declared Article 18 disposed of.


Article 19. Laying out of Quincy Street.


On motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously


Voted: That the laying out of a town way from Benjamin Road to Gray Street, substantially in the location of the pri- vate way known as Quincy Street, as more particularly de- scribed in Article 19 of the Warrant, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, as made and filed in the office of the Town Clerk by the Joint Board of Se- lectmen and Board of Public Works, be accepted, said way es- tablished and said Joint Board authorized to take land for the purpose of said way.
