ANNUAL TOWN MEETING


Elected : Ralph A. Chase, Moderator.


Leslie E. Chase, Clerk of By-Law Committee read the proposed by-laws for the information of the house.


Motion that action on the report of said by-law commit- tee be deferred until our next Annual Town Meeting and that the proposed by-laws be printed in the Town Report for 1930 was not carried.


Then voted to accept the proposed by-laws as reported by the committee elected at the Special Town Meeting, Feb. 27, 1929, and that a copy of the said by-laws be sent to the Attorney General for his approval.


William B. Higgins reported for the selectmen, relating to locating the Salt Pond road (so-called), owing to the pro- posed changes in the State Highway, which would, if accept- ed, cover a portion of the said road, it was deemed inadvis- able to proceed under the vote taken for that purpose.


Voted to waive the reading of the Town Report.


Voted to accept the reports of the Town Officers and committees with corrections noted (page 62) omission of names of New England Creamery Co., and Brackett & Young, (Milk Licenses).


Voted that the Selectmen be instructed to continue their efforts to obtain the town records from the Town of Or- leans which pertain to the Town of Eastham previous to

1797, when the south part of Eastham was set off and incor- porated as the Town of Orleans.


Voted that the person elected Selectman shall serve also as Assessor, member of the Board of Health and member of the Board of Public Welfare.

Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $3,075.00 for care and maintenance of Town Ways under Chapter 81 of the General Laws, provided the State will make a satisfac- tory allotment to the town for the same.


Voted to leave the care of the Town Roads and Bridges in the hands of the Road Surveyor, and to raise and appro- priate the sum of $300.00 for the same.


Voted to give the Collector of Taxes the same power which the Treasurer has when Collector.


Voted to appoint a committee of five to recommend ap- propriations for the ensuing year to be one Selectman, one member of the School Committee, the Road Surveyor and two members from the floor. Committee appointed as fol- lows : Arthur W. Parnell, Selectman, Stanley M. Walker,

Voted to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of revenue of the municipal year in an amount not to exceed in the ag- gregate the sum of $16,000.00. And to issue a note or notes therefor payable in one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the taxes from the said muni- cipal year.
