Article 20. Will the town choose a director for the Ply- mouth County Aid to Agriculture ?


Voted that Mr. Louis Ogden act as Norwell Director for Plymouth County Aid to Agriculture.

Article 21. Will the town give any instructions to town officers.


Voted that the cemetery committee be instructed to con- tinue to sell lots to townspeople at the present prices, but to non residents a minimum rate of not less than fifty dollars be charged. Also that the money received from sale of lots be set aside as a permanent fund to be used for the care of the cemetery.


Voted to instruct the selectmen to fasten doors and fix skylight at District No. 2 schoolhouse.


Voted to instruct the selectmen to grant no innholders' licenses without first holding a public hearing.


Voted to instruct the highway surveyor to use his best efforts to fix Tiffany Road and all of the other places call- ed for in the special articles.


Voted that the town officers be instructed to cause the town hall to be heated at meetings.


Article 22. Will the town authorize the treasurer, with the approval of the selectmen, to borrow money on and af- ter January 1, 1925 in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1925 and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable with one year. Any debt or debts

Subsequent meeting for the election of Town Officers. Monday, March 10, 1924.


Article 25. To bring in their votes for a Town Clerk. for one year; one Selectman; one Assessor, and one Over- seer of the Poor for three years: a Treasurer; a Collector of Taxes: an Auditor; a surveyor of Highways; five Con- stables: a Tree Warden for one year; one member of the School Committee, for three years: one member of the Beard of Health, for three years ; one Trustee for the Ridge Hill Library, for three years and to vote Yes or No in an- swer to the question, Shall licenses be granted for the sale of certain non-intoxicating beverages in this town. Polls open from 6 A. M. to II A. M.


Pursuant to the above article the qualified voters met and tock the following action. The meeting was in charge of Moderator, John Whalen, with the following election offic- ers: Clifton S. Dean, William J. Leonard, Carlton O. Litch- field. Amos H. Tilden, Alice C. Merritt and Henrietta Vir- tue. 75 names were checked and the same number of bal- lots cast. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


May 15, 1924


Pursuant to a warrant, duly executed and return thereof made, the qualified voters met at the Town Hall, May 15, 19244 at 7 P. M. and took the following action :

Article 1. John Whalen was chosen moderator, by ballot, and was sworn by the town clerk.


Article 2. To see if the town will raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purchase of a fire truck and the nec- essary expenses of the fire department.


A motion to appropriate a sum not to exceed $500.00 for purchasing a chassis was voted down.


It was voted to appropriate and raise in this year's tax levy. $200.00 for the necessary expenses of the fire depart- ment.


It was voted that a committee of three be appointed to confer with the selectmen in regard to fire apparatus and report at next meeting. The moderator appointed. Gentry Clark, George R. Farrar and Frederick Haskins.


Article 3. Will the town give any instructions to town officers ?


Voted that the forest warden be instructed to present a bill for all expenses caused the town by fires getting beyond the control of the persons starting same. The bill to be presented to the person responsible for the fire and payable to the town treasurer.


Voted that the selectmen be instructed to confer with Mr. Moore of the Hingham Water Company at an early date in regard to water in town.


Voted that meeting be dissolved.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING August 29, 1924.


Pursuant to a warrant, duly executed and return there if made, the qualified voters met at the Town Hall, August 29, 1924, at 7 P. M. and took the following action :


Article I. John Whalen was choosen moderator by bal- lot, and was sworn by the town clerk.


Article 2. Will the town vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to contract with the Hingham Water Company for the installation of four hydrants on Washington Street at an annual rental of $100.00 each, the equipment for the same to be tax exempt.


(Not approved by the Advisory Board. )


By unanimous consent, Mr. Agnew of the Water Com- pany was asked to explain to the meeting, the proposition of the company and to answer any questions.


It was voted 70 in favor, 64 against that the selectmen be authorized to enter into a contract with the Hingham Water Co., for the installation of 4 hydrants on Washington Street, at an annual rental of $100.00 each.


Voted that meeting me dissolved.

Edward M. Sexton, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, acted as presiding election of- ficer. William J. Leonard, Clifton S. Deane, Carlton O. Litchfield, Amos H. Tilden, Alice C. Merritt, Henrietta Vir- tue and Marion Brainard were the election officers on duty. The polls were opened at 6 A. M. and closed at 1.30 P.
