It was voted by a unanimous vote, 98 voting in favor, none against, to appropriate a sum not to exceed ($5,000.00) five thousand dollars to be expended with like appropria- tions from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the County of Plymouth, as provided by Chapter 155, Acts of 1918 and other Acts in amendment thereto and connection therewith, for highway construction on Central Street as petitioned by the Selectmen, and further authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow a sum not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) and issue bonds or notes of the Town bearing interest at a rate not to exceed 5 3-4 per cent., payable semi-annually and principal payable in five equal annual payments to provide for said construction.


Article 32. Will the Town vote to install an electric light near the residence of Henry F. Vining on Washington Street ?


Voted to refer to the Selectmen.

Article 33. Will the Town vote to appropriate a sum of money sufficient to surface Oak Street from Washing- ton to High with tar or act in any manner thereon?


Voted to take $500.00 from the general highway ap- propriation for this purpose.


Article 34. What salary and compensation will the Town vote to pay all its elected officers. To conform with Sec. 95 of the Revised Laws as amended by Sec. 8 of Chapter 591 of 1920.

Voted that the thanks of the Town be extended to Mr. Arthur Coombs for his generosity in providing the Town with a fire truck.


The fish rights were purchased by Wm. D. Turner at one dollar each.


W. W. Farrar, Arthur T. Stoddard and Herbert G. Sim- mons were chosen as Cemetery Committee for Washington Street Cemetary.


Subsequent meeting for the election of officers on Mon- day, the fourteenth day of March, 1921, then and there to act on the following article :

Article 40. To bring in their votes for a Town Clerk for one year; one Selectman, one Assessor, and one Over- seer of the Poor for three years; one Selectman, one Asses- sor and one Overseer of Poor for one year to fill vacancy, a Treasurer, a Collector of Taxes, an Auditor, a Surveyor of Highways, five Constables and a Tree Warden for one year, one member of the School Committee for three years, one member of the Board of Health for three years, and one member of the Board of Health for one year, to fill vacancy; to elect three Trustees for the Ridge Hill Library, one for three years, one for two years and one for one year, and to vote yes or no in answer to the question, "Shall license be granted for the sale of certain non-intoxicating beverages in this Town?" all on one ballot. Polls open from 6 A. M. to II A. M.


Pursuant to the above article the qualified voters met at the time and place and took action as follows: 422 ballots were cast. On being canvassed in open meeting they were found to be for the following persons :

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


Monday, May 16, 19?1


Pursuant to a warrant under the hands of the Selectmen, duly executed and return thereof made to the Town Clerk, by Walter T. Osborn, a constable of Norwell, the qualified voters of the Town met at the Town Hall on Monday the sixteenth day of May at 7.30 P. M. and took the following action on the several articles contained in the warrent :


Article 1. To choose a Moderator.


John Whalen was chosen Moderator by ballot, he was sworn by the Town Clerk.


Article 2. To see what instructions the Town will give the Selectmen in regard to the resurfacing and new construc- tion of Bridge Street, and appropriate money for the same.

A motiion to resurface and tarvia Bridge Street and instruct the Highway Surveyor to charge the work against the general road appropriation was voted down.


Article 3. To see if. the Town will appropriate a suf- ficient sum of money to purchase a flag for the use of the Town.


Voted that the Selectmen be authorized to purchase a new flag and to expend from the incidental account such amount as may be necessary up to seventy-five dollars.


Article 4. To see if the Town will appropriate $3,968.92 to pay its portion of the cost of the Plymouth County Hospital, and authorize the Treasurer, with the ap- proval of the Selectmen, to borrow a sum not exceeding said sum, and issue therefor notes or bonds of the Town bearing interest payable semi-annually, the principal pay- able in such annual payments as will extinguish the debt within eight years.


It was voted by a unanimous vote, seventeen voting in favor, none voting against, that there be appropriated the sum of $3,968.92 to pay the Town's share of the Plymouth County Tuberculosis Hospital, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter III of the General Laws; and to meet said appropriation that there be raised in the levy of the current year the sum of $468.92; and that the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $3,500.00 and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, said bonds or notes to be payable in accordance with the provision of Chapter III of the General Laws, so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than seven years from the date of issue of the first bond or note or at such earlier dates as the Treasurer and Selectmen may determine.

Voted that the Selectmen may sell the stone crusher to the best advantage but in any event not less than $150.00.
