Report of Town Clerk
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING, MARCH 2-9, 1925
Pursuant to a warrant under the hands of the Select- men, duly executed and return thereof made by Walter T. Osborn, a constable of Norwell, the qualified voters met at the Town Hall, Monday, March 2, 1925, at 7 P. M., and took action as follows
Article I. To choose a moderator.
John Whalen was chosen moderator by ballot. He was sworn by the Town Clerk.
Article 2. To hear the reports of the several boards of officers and committees of the town and act thereon.
Mr. Clark reported for committee on fire apparatus and Mr. Deane for committee on town forest. It was voted to accept their reports.
It was also voted to accept the reports of the town officers as printed.
Article 3. To make necessary appropriations to defray the expenses of the town and for other purposes and to raise such sums of money as the town shall deem expe- dient.

Voted to raise by taxation the amounts necessary to carry out the appropriations not otherwise provided for and to assess the polls and estates of residents and the es- tates of non-residents.
Article 4. Will the town raise and appropriate the sum of forty-seven hundred dollars to be expended on high- ways under the provisions of Section 26 of Chapter 81 of the General Laws as amended?
(Approved by the Advisory Board. )
It was voted that the sum of forty-seven hundred dollars appropriated under Article 3 be expended under the pro- visions of Chapter 81, Section 26 of the General Laws as amended.
Article 5. Will the town appropriate $500 to be ex- pended jointly with the County and State to complete Summer Street, provided that the County and State con- tribute $1,500 and $2,000 respectively for that purpose ?

Five hundred dollars was appropriated to be spent under the conditions of this article.
Article 6. Will the town vote to refund to the Hing- ham Water Co. for a term of twenty years, all taxes which may be assessed on new equipment installed to serve the residents of Washington Street ?
(Not approved by Advisory Board.)

Article 7. Will the town accept the provisions of Chapter 136, Sections 7 and 8, of the General Laws, legal- izing the sale of ice cream and soft drinks by licensed
dealers on Sunday ?
By unanimous vote it was voted to accept the provisions of Chapter 136, Sections 7 and 8, of the General Laws.
Article 8. Will the town rescind its vote of 1924 ac- cepting the provisions of Chapter 136, Sections 21 to 28, of the General Laws, legalizing sports on Sunday where no admission fee is collected?
Voted that Article 8 be laid upon the table and that the Selectmen be instructed to cause said article to be inserted in the official ballot to be voted on at the Town Meeting to be held in March, 1926, in order that every voter may vote thereon, "Yes" or "No."
Article 9. Will the town vote to establish a town forest under the provisions of Chapter 45, Sections 19 to 20, or Chapter 132, Section 35, of the General Laws?
Voted that a town forest be established under Chapter 45 of the General Laws.
Article 10. Will the town vote to employ its alms- house unimproved land for forestry purposes ?
Voted that about two acres of land on south side of ditch in River and Forest Street field be used for forestry purposes.
Article II. Will the town vote to employ its lands acquired by tax sale for forestry purposes ?
Voted to use the three lots acquired by tax sale for forestry purposes.

Article 12. Will the town act with the town of Han- over to have electric lights at the junction of River Street, Norwell, and Broadway, Hanover, at Assinippi and at North Hanover ?
Voted to act with Hanover to maintain lights at the above locations.
Article 13. Will the town maintain an electric light on Main Street near the parsonage ?
Voted that the town do maintain a light near the par- sonage.
Article 14. To make allowance to town creditors.
No bills were presented.
Article 15. Will the town authorize the Selectmen to dispose of Dist. No. 2 Schoolhouse ?
Voted not to do so.
Voted that the matter be laid on table for one year.
Article 16 .- Will the town authorize the Selectmen to dispose of Dist. No. 7 Schoolhouse ?
Voted to authorize the Selectmen to sell Dist. No. 7, school building to the Church Hill Improvement Associ- ation, Inc., for one hundred dollars.
Article 17. Will the town vote to lease for the term of three years with the privilege of purchase at the termina- tion of the lease, at a stipulated price, a parcel of land con- taining approximately two acres, adjoining on three sides the central shool lot ?
(Approved by Advisory Board.)
Voted that the Selectmen be authorized to lease the above-named strip of land on the above conditions.

Article 18. Will the town appropriate the Bonus refund received from the State for the purchase and grading of a playground for the central school?
(Approved by Advisory Board.)
Voted to use the Bonus as an appropriation for this purpose.
Article 19. Will the town choose a director for the Plymouth County Aid to Agriculture ?
Voted that Mr. Louis Ogden continue to serve as town director for Plymouth County Aid to Agriculture.
Article 20. Will the town give any instruction to town officers ?
Voted that the tree warden be instructed to expend $25.00 on triangles at corner of Mt. Blue and Lincoln Streets and at Bryant's Corner.
Voted that the appropriation for fire apparatus be ex- pended only under the direction of the Chief of Fire Dept. when a fire company shall be formed and a Chief selected and that the committee on fire apparatus be continued to act in connection with forming a fire company.
Article 21. Will the town authorize the treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money on and after January 1, 1926, in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1926, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1926?
Voted that the town authorize the treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money on and after January 1, 1926, in anticipation of the revenue of the

Article 23. To bring in their votes for a Town Clerk, for one year; one Selectman, one Assessor and one Over- seer of the Poor, for three years; a Treasurer; a Collector of Taxes; an auditor; a Surveyor of Highways; five Con-

Pusuant to the above article the voters met at the Town Hall, Monday, March 9, 1925 at 6 A. M. John Whalen acted as presiding officer. The officers on duty were : Edward M. Sexton, Wm. J. Leonard, Amos H. Tilden, Carlton O. Litchfield, Mrs. Alice C. Merritt, and Mrs. Henrietta Virtue. The polls were closed at II A. M. Fifty-one ballots were cast. On being counted in open meeting they were found to be for the following persons :

May II, 1925

Article 5. Will the town vote to adopt certain changes in the legend of the town seal?
