REPORT OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH

January 28, 1934.

The Board of Health submits the following report for the year ending December 31, 1933:

The care, producing, and grade of the milk supply of the Town on the whole is improving from year to year. We are very pleased to see most all of the milk retailed in the Town is from tubercular-tested herds, and during the next year we hope to have the work thoroughly completed.

The free distribution of milk is gladly accepted by the underweight children of the school, and benefits from the same are markedly noticed. There is a balance returned to the Town, on account of the year ending December 31, 1933, but the department will require the same appropriation to be able to continue the distribution of milk for the entire year.

The prevention and control of diphtheria in our Town seems to give gratifying results from the Toxin Anti-Toxin given by the Board of Health. We have had only one case of diphtheria reported since the treatment has been given for the past five years.

Contagious and infectious diseases are kept under control by the vigilance of the Board of Health and the follow-up work of the Health Nurse at the homes of those afflicted.

Our dental clinics have been patronized freely by the pupils, but there is a chance for still more of them to take advantage of the en- deavors of the dentist and Board of Health for the welfare of the children.

The Chadwick Clinic of the State of Massachusetts, in conjunc- tion with the Board of Health, showed good work on the prevention and control of tuberculosis as the nurse's report will show.

The Board of Health has returned to the Town their usual unex- pended balance.

Following this report is the report of the Public Health Nurse who has performed her various duties in a most satisfactory manner.

Respectfully submitted,

CYRIL A. BLANEY, M.D., Chairman, OLIVER A. REEVES, ISAAC L. HALL.
