Miss Kate Kepley, a beautiful and socotiplished unmarried young wowusd; whose home was a short distance north of Strafford, committed suicide sote timo Beturday night by jumping into a well


Miss Kopley was a woman of high moral character, well liked by all of her soquaintances, and no cause has been discovered why she should become


weary of life.


Miss Kepley resided with the famlly of her brother-in-law. J. B. Cummings, and had no relatives except a sister. She has been Nightly ill for several weeks, but in avden, the family physician, thoughit her ailment was not serious.


Sunday morning when the family arose and prepared breakfast Miss Kepler was found to be missing from her room, and a search was instituted for her. A pair of shoes and stockings were found beside the well near the bonne The lead the belief that the young woman. had taken her ike ty jumping into the wel!, and it took but a few moments to prove that such was the case. Her lifeless body was at once taken out and word was sent to this city.


Dr. F. W. Deimer, the county coroner, was potifed and went to the home of the deceased. A jury was empaneled und un inquest bald! 'The router

Endo a Continuous Illness Since Last October.


Early yesterday morning Dr. John W. Weir died at his residence on Washington avenue after an illness dating back to the first part of Octo- ber. Dr. Weir's intestines became bound to the spinal column by a muscu- lar band and it was necessary to per- form a difficult surgical operation. A number of eminent physicians were called.


Dr. Weir never regained strength after his illness and for a mouth it has been known that he could not recover. Dr. Weir was born near Mobile in 1638 and was educated in Alabama.
